TD and Fat Cramer are chicks? Damn... someone forgot to send me the memo. Oh, with the way the Legon Board Posters are, would these ladies be considered "Fag Hags"? I ask in inebriated jest, of course. So.... who wants their bones jumped by a guy who used to be named after the least popular Monkee? ![[wink]](images/icons/wink.gif)

Well then, Miss Kitty, go recrutin'!
Ho back to the evil official boards, and spread the word that Gob Needs Women!!!!!
(BTW, Gob is a nickname for Rob Kamphausen, spawned from the Phrase "Rob Is God", bastardized to "Rob Is Gob", then just shortened to Gob, Gobbert, or Closet Homosexual. I think I had something to do with the creation of the nickname by mistyping one day back in '99... but I really difgress)
You want more women, you gonna have to go out and get 'em! Women don't just fall into yer lap! Trust Me!
Recruit for us!

Women are always in control
Y'all are responsible for the rationing of Pussy, therefore, y'all are almost in control.
It's simple supply and demand.

Ooooh, mixing up the footspray with the breath-freshener- always a dangerous mistake. (Not quite as bad as mixing up the Preparation H with the tooth paste or the laxatives with the chocolate, but pretty bad.)

I always liked Peter Tork. He looked like my first true love. I thought Mickey Dolenz was least popular. I can't believe I remember their names. And their songs.

Davy Jones, Mike Nesmith, Peter Tork and Mickey.
My favorite Monkee was Mike, 'cause he wore the wool hat and seemed more serious than the rest. Sometimes, he was portrayed as the leader. I guess that's something he shared in common with Mon-El, my favorite Legionnaire. (Hm. Wonder how Mon would look in a wool hat?)
MONKEES TRIVIA MOMENT: When the Monkees released their last album, Changes, in 1970, Mike and Peter had already left the group. It was just Mickey and Davy (the two actors, not the two musicians in the group) carrying the banner. Music industry joke at the time was that the next album would be released by the Monkee.
A sad, ignominious end to four fun guys who brought a lot of laughter and great songs to a generation-plus.

Actually, I did use the ID AdmiralMikeNesmith for a while... it was my default back-up, kinda like Hulk69 was at the end. And I think one of the old LLB used a Davy Jones based name at some point to rib me. And as for that Monkees thing... Changes wasn't really a Monkees album. It was Basically Andy Kim (co-writer of the atrocious song "sugar Sugar") and Jeff Barry's baby. An Andy Kim album, but released under the barely marketable Monkees name, ifuwheel. Only one, maybe two actual Monkees songs made the album (Midnight Train, for one). Thankfully, in '86 with the big Monkees revival, Dolenz, Jones, and Tork got together and gave us a pretty much Monkees album. The single "Heart and Soul was one of the top 10 requested videos at MTV. However, the sell-out fuckers at MTV wouldn't play the video because the Monkees didn't play their Super Bowl show. And there began the decline of MTV into the Non-Music Television we know and loathe today. Then, in '96, the Monkees released their final (to date) Studio album,. Justus, in which they once again played all their own instruments and wrote all their own songs. Wasn't too bad, actually. Wasn't Headquarters, but it was good for what it was. Better than half the tripe on the radio at the time. The Monkees never end, man. The 40th anneversary is coming up. There'll probably be a new album and more touring by '06. And so ends more than you wanted to know about The Monkees. ![[biiiig grin]](images/icons/grin.gif)

Are you confusing this with "That Was Then, This Is Now"? "Heart And Soul" was a hit for T'Pau (which brings in an out-of-left-orbit Star Trek reference on top of the Monkees reference in a thread about women posters. )
Though, for all I know, the Monkees may have also had a song and video called "Heart and Soul."
I saw the Monkees' TV special in '97, aired to promote Justus. It was a hoot -- an extended episode of their old TV series, really. It's a shame Mike got cold feet about touring and backed out before they could promote the album. The others seemed bitter about that in their Behind the Music episode that aired a few years later.
But, you're right, man. The Monkees will never end -- in this thread, at least! ![[nyah hah]](images/icons/tongue.gif)

Well, I just put vanilla-scented lotion on my hands. (Will that do?) Yum, smells like cookies baking.
Which reminds me... I do have cookies to bake.

Shpadoinkle!
You're right, it was "That Was Then, This Is Now" that MTV Wouldn't play. Fuckers.
But, the Monkees also had a single called "Heart and Soul", completely different song than the one by the Vulcan Matriarch.
Sometimes I get confused in my old age.

Well, for what it's worth, I share the name of the short Monkee in real life...that being said, Mike was my favorite. I love the Monkees, always have.
But not as much as this older friend of mine, who had all thier albums and just about every piece of Monkee memorabilia (model kits, bubblegum cards, etc.) that they put out back then. Heck, he even had one of those red double-buttoned shirts! His name was Jimmy, but everybody called him "Monkee". Haven't seen him in many years.
And it must be said that Mike put out several excellent country rock records on his own after the Prefab Four fell apart. Magnetic South, Loose Salute, Nevada Fighter, Pretty Much Your Standard Ranch Stash, ...And The Hits Just Keep On Comin', and Infinite Rider on the Big Dogma. Love that stuff.
I missed the Justus special when it aired...I was working and forgot to set the timer to tape it. I saw 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee when I was a kid, though!
And leave us not forget the jaw-dropping film Head...
