Cable network TNT announced that it is developing a sequel to the original fantasy adventure movie The Librarian: Quest for the Spear, which earned high ratings for the channel when it aired last December. At its upfront presentation in New York on April 12, the network told advertisers and reporters that star Noah Wyle will return in the sequel, which will once again be executive-produced by Dean Devlin (Independence Day) under his Electric Entertainment banner.

Wyle will reprise his role as unlikely hero Flynn Carsen, a librarian with 22 academic degrees charged with protecting a treasure trove of magical artifacts hidden beneath the Metropolitan Library. The new original movie is tentatively scheduled to air on TNT in the fall.

It was.... decent. A throw back to Indiana Jones style adventures but with tongue planted firmly in cheek ( ). The music even sounded like an Indie rip. But it was a lot of fun. My ownly problem was that at times it tried to be too much like Indiana Jones when the main character obviously isn't a full fledged, whip toating adventurer but an academic who gets tossed in over his head. Not worth paying admission at the movies but worth sitting down and watching it on the cable I'm already paying for.

Plus, it has Bob Newhart in it. And he's the fucking man.

I would have watched this for sure, had I known when it was on. I love any Indiana Jones-style adventure stories, especially when the hero is smart and educated (rather than a man of action). National Treasure was good for this reason. I haven't watched ER since I was in high school (probably not since its second season), but I always liked Noah Wyle.
