Those with only local access need not apply.

We all love to watch TV. It's a MediaX forum pasttime... if not the MediaX forum pasttime. What cable (or satellite, TiVO, what have you) stations do you find yourself watching the most? Which ones keep you coming back again and again?

Pay channels are not included in this little endeavor. Just channels on basic cable (or, in my case, as a part of my satellite provider).

List off your top ten and tell us why! The top fifteen stations (or so) will be included in a poll to determine the RKMBs favorite station!

And, to be fair, one of my favorite friends there is blind and I take every opportunity available to make fun of that and we're still friends. That guy never fit there. He never got the spirit of the RKMBs. We're gonna keep an eye on the obits, see if he finally left or if he really did have a heart attack.

I watch HBO and Encore more than some of these channels, but they're not eligible since they are pay channels. Instead, they get an honorable mention.

Chewy, I thought we were leaving out local (broadcast) channels (Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC, WB, UPN, PBS, CBC, etc.).

  • FSN (Detroit sports teams)
  • OLN (Unfortunately, that's where the hockey is now)
  • ESPN (National sports coverage)
  • ESPN2 (Because ESPN couldn't stick to one station)
  • Scifi (Scifi Friday is the best night on TV)
  • Cartoon Network (Adult Swim roxors!)
  • AMC (Lot's of good movies)
  • TCM (Lot's of classics)
  • Comedy Central (Daily Show, Colbert Report)
  • TNT (NBA playoffs)

I would list USA, but WWE sucks. I would list Spike, but Jeff Jarret sucks. So all sports channels win.

In no particular order:

IFC (Independent Film Channel - Swingers, Reservoir Dogs, Dinner For Five, and samurai flicks 'till you're blue in the face!)

Cartoon Network (Billy & Mandy and Adult Swim...RAWK!)

Comedy Central (South Park & Secret Stash)

VH1 (I'm addicted to Flavor Of Love and Web Junk 20)

TLC (home improvement shows)

Food Network (Iron Chef like a muthafucka! Alton Brown is the boy genius! Rachael Ray needs my penis...BAM!!!)

Discovery Home (home improvement AND cooking? I don't have to change the channel!)

NESN (New England Sports Network...duh!)

ESPN and ESPN 2 (PTI is one of the greatest shows on TV. And I'm hooked on the World Series of Poker.)

MTV (Only for Viva La Bam and Real World/Road Rules Challenge)

As always, I reserve the right to change my mind. Right now I'm trying to figure out where to fit AMC and TCM.

At any rate, I'm not including them in the consideration for top networks, so fret not, Penny.

Discovery. Mythbusters and a more.
History Channel. Modern Marvels.

I don't have ten favorites, but I have several that I watch ALL the time.

1) Cartoon Network. I think my bedtime would be a lot earlier if it weren't for Adult Swim.

2)TLC. I'm a sucker for make-over shows.

3)Animal Planet. Kittens. 'Nuff said.

Um...when I'm with Killconey and CaptainSammich I watch a lot of G4. Especially now that "Happy Tree Friends and Friends" is on.
