Aggressive Squirrels Prowl Mountain View ParkVisitors to a Mountain View park Wednesday where greeted by signs warning them to be on alert for a group of aggressive squirrels who have bitten at least six people and have even been brazen enough to jump into a baby's stroller.
 Jennifer Packard told the San Jose Mercury about the latest attack. She said she had unwrapped a muffin during a picnic last week in Mountain View's Cuesta Park and had given it to her son, Andrew.
Quickly, a brown tree squirrel pounced, attacking the 4-year-old and wrestling with him for the muffin. The youngster was bitten and scratched as he ran screaming through the park with the squirrel still hanging onto him as he rolled desperately in the grass to end the attack.
"It was such a horror,'' Packard told the paper. "To hear your child screaming the way you've never heard before . . . it was just bone chilling.''
Because squirrels can be infected with rabies, Andrew Packard was forced to a regimen of painful rabies shots.
Laurie Gibson jogs and walks her dog in the park. She told KTVU on Wednesday that she's seen the aggressive behavior but also understands what may be causing it. Despite posted signs prohibiting the feeding of animals in the park, Gibson said people leave scraps for the squirrels.
Mountain View Community Services Director David Muela said officials were taking reports of the attacks "very seriously." Muela said that as many as six people have been bitten or scratched by squirrels since May, and that the attacks have become more ferocious in the last month.
Muela also wanted to calm fears, saying there has been no evidence found in the park's wildlife to indicate rabies were present. This is what happens when you try to make nice with nature. Nature gets cocky and attacks.

Heh. Seriously, that is scarey. It's like Alfred Hitchcocks' movie, THE BIRDS, except with squirrels.
The way man has abused this planet and the life on it, it would not surprise me if the all the animals attacked humans someday.
