Do you think that EVERYONE who commits suicide AUTOMATICALLY goes to HELL?
Do you think GOD uses a " One Size Fits All " style of judgement?
I have been thinking of the lead singer of Boston, and that comedian who both recently commited suicide. Do you think they are now in HELL for eternity? One was mentally ill and had a chemical imbalance which made it impossible for him to be happy. The other? He might have had similar issues.
Elderly neighbors from when I lived in the country commited suicide. They were both in their late 70's, a married couple. The wife had terminal cancer, and the husband, who was taking care of her at home, was out of money and had diabetes and a bad heart condition. He shot his wife first, then himself. They both left notes to their children - a son and a daughter, both well into their 40's- explaining how they were tired and decided it was time to check out now.
I don't believe for a second that GOD would have manifested himself to the couple as a 50 foot angry giant when he was judging them, and would have sent them to HELL because they commited suicide - murder. They were old. They were sick. They had heavy duty financial problems. I would expect that The Almighty One would have much compassion, and be very understanding.
Now, in the case of that asshole who blew himself and his ex girlfriend up with a bomb in an elevator.. I am certain that man is Hell bound. He and her were both young..in their early 20's.... and the man KILLED her. She had a young son who is now an orphan.
I know there is NO way to be sure, but I believe that GOD would judge each of us on a case by case basis.. as individuals. He cannot be expected to adhere to man's view's or opinions, as he is a superior being.
What do you think on this subject?

It really depends on what you believe. Hinduism, for example, teaches that those folks would get to try again, though perhaps at a slightly lower station than before, making their ultimate cosmic journey through the karmic wheel a little longer.

Sin is defined as willful disobedience against a known law of God. If one is truly not in control of his or her own faculties, then their actions ought not be deemed willful. Similarly, if you accidentally do something that results in your death, like if you're a bomb squad guy and cut the wrong wire by mistake, then even though you terminated your own life, you did not willfully do so, and as such haven't sinned.

I don't believe in hell as Christians do. I believe when we die we are shown our life, and are shown our potential life, as in what we could have been had we lived up to our true potential. That's a true hell. After that, I don't really know if we are in some way punished or not. I do believe that if we mess up, we come back until we get it right. I also believe that those truly evil lose their existence. So all those suicide bombers who thought they were going to screw 70 virgins in the afterlife, well, they're gone. I think. I really don't know. I also believe that if we wrong someone, and are not forgiven by that person, both people have to come back so that the wrong can be righted.
Anyway, I don't think someone who commits suicide goes to hell. I believe they have to come back, possibly with the same flaws that led them down that path, so that they can overcome them upon a second chance.

Er...Is that from the Talmud? 'Cuz there's no reference to reincarnation in the Old Testament.

The BEST films about the afterlife IMO are :
DEFENDING YOUR LIFE, with Meryl Streep and Albert Brooks.
SWITCH, starring Ellen Barkin and Jimmy Smits.
MADE IN HEAVEN , starring Timothy Hutton.
GHOST, starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.
ALWAYS, starring Richard Dreyfuss.
SOMEWHERE IN TIME, starring Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve.

It's not in the bible....anywhere. In fact, asentsion to heaven is spoken of as being extremely limited, and condemnation to hell is nowhere to be found.
I would be really interested in seeing your scriptural basis for beleiving in re-incarnation, if you have the time/ability to post it here.

If I had the ability, I would. Unfortunately, I'm just not that learned. I can tell you it is learned out that Laban came back as Bilam, the prophet who was supposed to curse Israel but wound up blessing them, and later as Nabal (I think that's the name), the husband of a woman King David later married. As Nabal, he dies a painful natural death, and the rabbis learn out from this that his death is an atonement for his sins. This final event happens in the book of Samuel.

As far as Hell goes-from my understanding of the Bible which is not infallible; The dead will be resurrected and judged if they are found to not be written in the book of life then they receive the Second Death (whatever that is exactly is unclear).
I'm pretty sure Hell is reserved for people who side directly with Satan (and other very very very nasty exceptions to the rule)and people who side with the Antichrist knowingly.
Those who are judged to be written in the book of life ascend to the new Earth-not Heaven. I believe Heaven is reserved for God, certain Saints like Moses, and Angels.
Those that believe in reincarnation-believe in basely similar things, but that if you don't ascend (aren't spiritually pure) you keep getting reincarnated until you get it right. Man, woman, cow, rat, whatever.

Hmmm...I admittedly have little to no knowledge of the Jewish faith, so bear with me here. I am, however familiar with the events/individuals that you speak of....and your interpretation of thier having being 'reincarnated' seems to be just that - an interpretation, with no actual refference in scripture. They are not linked in scripture, and Bathsheba's husband was more of a side character in David's tale than anything else (allowing context for the later declaration that King David did not go to heaven...Acts 2:34).

Nabal was not Batsheba's husband. I am speaking of a different person before David became king, while he was on the run from Saul. I have no idea how the reincarnation is learned out, but it should be pointed out the Hebrew Nabal is the reverse spelling of Laban. Again, I don't understand how they learn out that he was also Bilam, however, the first and last make sense based on their spelling alone.

Suicide mostly proceeds from cowardice, but not always; cowardice sometimes prevents it;as many live because they are afraid to die, as die because they are afraid to live

But if Jesus knew he would be killed and allowed it to happen, does that mean he's being raped by Satan in Hell even as we speak?

No, Karl, Jesus is NOT currently being ass - raped by the Devil. He spent a day or two in Hell, but then GOD pardoned him.
Jesus had to die. It was part of GOD's divine plan.
But I am certain that Richard Nixon is in HELL..and Hitler, too....and that Woody Allen is headed there, as well!

Not IMO. Maybe those who leave children behind unattended. (No, I don't say they should take their children WITH them!)

True story from my sister's vet emergancy hospital:
Kid, teenager, 16-18... both his parents die. Within two weeks, his dog gets run over by some asshole in a truck and takes the dog to the emergicare vet, DOA. So the kid goes back home and kills himself the same day.
If god sent him to hell after that, fuck god.

Uschi, I think God is very understanding.
The kid lost his parents and his dog in just a few weeks.
God does judge us all after we die.
Judgement without compassion is not true love.
I believe that God is compassionate and loving.
I don't think the kid went to hell. I believe that he was re-united with his parents and his dog in the after - life.
God takes us all on a case by case basis; I don't believe that he only offers "One size fits all " judgement.

Then you don't know your Bible that well...God has some very cut and dry standards. Deal breakers, if you will. It's really much the same as any one of us, whereby certain conduct is just not acceptable...no matter the reasoning one can give.
God, as the Bible would have us beleive, is not compassionate nor terribly loving. He refers to himself most frequently with terms such as 'jealous God' 'God of Judgement' and my personal favorite, 'wrathfull'.
Terms such as 'merciful' and 'loving' are ascribed to Him...but are not used in a first person context. They are third party descriptions.
Think of the earth as a kid with a giant ant farm, and you'll get more of a perspective on how God views your personal descisions and circumstances.
