I am psyched to hear this - Simone has done a phenomenal job on BoP making it one of my favorite reads and I have total faith she will give WW the direction the title seems to be currently lacking. I mean, by ish 12 WW will have had - what? - 3 or 4 different writers...  I agree with Pig Dave, Simone seems like she gets "it"...and if she steals Nicola, cool - the girl does some solid art work... I am bummed that she's leaving BoP though...I'm not familiar w/ McKeever's work, though his name does ring a bell.

He's been doing "Spider-Man Loves Mary-Jane" for Marvel and while I've never read the book,have heaed that it's some good readin'.

That's true. I don't get why that is, though. Despite all the probs TPTB have in figuring out what to do with the character, WW is prolly the most visible female character out there and is one of DC's trinity. Even as Simone mentioned - a lot of writers would find this to be the "dream" job - so why don't they stay?
That being said, Gail has been with BoP since issue 55, so hopfully she'll stay around just as long (or longer) for Diana.

Sales. A lot of writers have taken over the book which is high profile and high pressure and the sales just never get there. So they either don't make the money they want and/or the editors decide a new direction.

That makes sense. It just seems strange though, that such a high profile character can't seem to hold her own in the sales category.
Edit: actually, what you said regarding the change in direction I think is the real problem - and something that Gail mentioned in the interview. I don't think that they really know what to do with her. Warrior? Ambassador? Peace maker? It seems that they are not able to reconcile that she can be all of these things to the exclusion of none. I think that's their biggest problem of all with her.

Both Shazam and Wonder Woman can work but you need to embrace the "cheese".
For example, Jeff Smith is doing a decent job writing Shazam as a children's story. Which is what it is.
The "Xena" TV show demonstrated that the public will get behind the adventures of a hot Amazon with a breastplate. But the show also demonstrated that they do so when the story's fun and a little campy (with hot lesbian overtones). That's what DC needs to do with Wonder Woman.

The editors at DC have been resisting the Xena makeover for years.
I don't know why. Half the time she reads like a nun. Hard for the deomographic to relate to. Of course, for WW the demographic is definitely skewed towards gay white men, as opposed to straight white men not getting laid.

Sweet. I think she'd do an excellent job as the artist on that title, but I would hate to see her leave BoP. And if she did both, there is always the possibility her work would suffer. As to the whole Xena angle - DC is more than foolish not to follow that kind of example. One, its a formula that has proven itself to work, and clearly showing her to be a "nun" with no romantic interest is ridiculously dull. As for the lesbian angle, unlike making Batwoman one, which until they prove otherwise I believe was done for the fanboy fantasy, I think it would make perfect sense if they played that angle with Wondy (hints at a romance with Batman, not withstanding). If they tried to embrace everything - warrior and peace maker; lover and fighter; serious and funny (even with a little camp, as G-Man mantioned) they would stand a better chance of not fucking her title up this time around. I think Gail can do this - hopefully without TPTB stifling her too much.
