I used to love these two/three page stories about Kent solving problems - using his powers but not becoming Superman from the late 70s/early 80s!

I only ever saw these stories in English reprints, so I don't even know what original books they were printed in.
As their only 3 pages, they're obviously fillers.

I think I saw one or two of those Clark Kent stories.
They were ok.
At least he wasn't advertising Twinkies in them!

Yeah, Steve Lombard was in the stories!
I remember a lot of the stories were set in Clarks block!
HE would use his powers, often in front of people but they wouldn't notice!
There were silly but fun!
I got a taste to read more of them because of Morrisons ASS!

I remember those stories. They were called "the Private Life of Clark Kent," and generally were, in fact, "Clark Kent saving the day without changing into Superman." And, yeah, Steve Lombard probably figured in at least one or two of them.
As I recall, the strips appeared as back ups in both Action Comics and Superman from time to time. They also appeared in the "Superman Family" book once in a while.
Roy's comparison to Morrison's Superman isn't a bad one, particularly that sequence in the first issue of All Star where Clark kept tripping and secretly saving people from impending doom.
But as a I recall sometimes he'd save the day without even using his powers, or the stories were about what he did when he was home in his apartment.

The stories were from the 1970s, so I doubt they would be in a "silver age" archive.

Silver Age ends in 1969, I am fairly certain on that.. I've heard various theories on when the Silver Age ended, with 1969 (and the beginning of the O'Neill/Adams Batman era) being one date and 1973 (with the death of Gwen Stacy) being another. I tend to go with a 1969-1970 date myself, or thereabouts. The Batman TV series had recently ended (and its influence of the comics industry), you had "Green Lantern/Green Arrow" and (soon after) the Harry Osborne drug story starting to bring a nascient form of "grim and gritty" to books, you had the silver age greats (Schwartz, Fox, Kirby, Lee, etc.) being followed by their "proteges" (O'Neil, Adams, Buscema, Thomas, Steranko, etc.).
