I've had a theory that there once was an intelligent race on Mars,
but as the planet's weak gravity allowed it's atmosphere to bleed off into space, they either died off or abandonded Mars...

And Mission To Mars is a superb movie!
I have it on vhs; will buy the dvd in the future...
Aliens native to Mars would look pretty much like in the movie scene: The weaker gravity of Mars, which is only 1/10 as dense as our planet, Earth - would allow for the natives to be much taller than we - and have a more
fragile bone structure, as well.
When - and it will happen - we humans colonize Mars - children born there will develop pretty much like that, until or unless some form of artificial gravity, which would encourage normal human growth and body patterns.
And, yes, it is very likely that a Mars meteor, or actual Martians themselves seeded Earth with life.
