I feel ripped off, my state--SC--just struck down the ban on handguns being sold to 18-20 year olds. I probably could've owned a few more guns than I do by now had they done this a lot sooner.
Now, I am older and, oddly, feel like it is a bad idea to let all the young'uns run around with handguns.
Not saying that my gen wasn't stupid, but this new generation seems to take the cake on not caring or giving a fuck.
What are you guys thoughts on this? Are we ahead of our time? Backwards? Stupid? Or, just too much for that Brady bitch?

Only two.
I've got seven (410, 270, 2x .38s, a .357, 12-gauge, and muzzle loader). My family and friends combined, we have an arsenal.
My favorite is my friend's Thompson.

Now, I am older and, oddly, feel like it is a bad idea to let all the young'uns run around with handguns. Without getting into all the issues related to gun control, given that 18 year olds can "run around with handguns" in the military, including Iraq, I'm not surprised a ban would get struck down at some point.

And, in a sense, I agree. I was taught how to handle and fire guns when I was very young. However, I was also taught to be a generally responsible human being who actually understands the consequences inherent in any action.
Most of the morons I see running around today haven't been taught that, it seems.
Getting rid of most, if not all, gun control laws on the books is a great idea. But, first we have to rehabilitate the way people think about government, responsibility, and such. Without such rehabilitation, I think it is better that we leave the laws in place.
It will take some time to rehabilitate an American citizenry that has grown morally, socially, and mentally dumber and more irresponsible since FDR than we will probably live to see.

Pretty much this. Ideally I'd like to see gun owners educating the public on how to use guns. Maybe start local meetups where they work on community projects focusing on gun education. We need to create a gun positive culture, which is no small task. This is best handled by people working together in decentralized areas. I think another national organization would be a horrible idea.
