...what happened?

the rest of the day played out similarly to the night prior, except everyone was awake for a lot longer. we drank it up for awhile in the room while playing some nintendo wii and eventually watching a dvd, rocky VI. subtitled: tonight's booze will ensure half of us will fall asleep during the film.

it was cool, though. eventually, all left for sleep and i could begin my night shift of work again. not getting to start until later tonight, i had to work a little later through the morning, as well, pushing well past sunrise into the 6:15 zone ... only to be woken up around 9:45 by everyone else prepping for the beach again.

really, that's how all of our days played out down there, waking up relatively early, hitting the beach until like 1 or 2 whilst enjoying the stunningly perfect weather. from there, we'd head to one of two tiki bars, depending purely on our whim of which direction we'd rather walk. grab some food and some drinks, then head back to the sand and crash. maybe nap. maybe sit and chat. maybe run into the ocean and float around for awhile... and, of course, always waiting the appropriate amount of post-eating time.

the afternoon beach'd last until 5 or 6 or so, when everyone started getting a little hungry for dinner. so, we'd make the long walk back to the hotel, possibly get seduced by the pool on the way inside, and either hang out there for a half hour or so, or just complete the walk back to the rooms.

everyone showers and preps, slaps on some clothes, then by 7 or 8, we're ready for food. that means either heading out to another junkanoo type experience, or ordering in some pizza (beeuch) but also making a few pounds of pasta (woot!) to enjoy on the side. garlic bread, too.

a similar daily pattern, but sucha welcome one. even if it left me like 3 hours of sleep nightly, it was so very worth it. i actually really enjoy both hanging out with my family / extended family as well as just seeing them having a good time. and everyone was, that was the best part. everyone was constantly smiley and happy and in a good mood. possibly a little crispy from baking all day, but still. happy.

Couldn't be. Rob announces the crash, and it goes on for days. This was something different...far more...insidious.
