she knew there was a bar crawl. she knew who was gonna be there. she even knew where we were goin. not much of a cloak and dagger event, i'll agree. it wasn't sposda be. she even knew there were gonna be shirts. however, the design of the shirts, the amount of shirts i got (i.e; not just one for her) and all the little perks including the day's special name... those were revealed the morning of.
and very, very, very well received, i must add. as soon as she saw the shirt and all the lil details in it, she started to get all excited and happy-cry and alexix reactionary. which is a godo thing. she put it on and started getting all psyched up for the day, overall. i even got us some bagels the night before so we'd have that nice, pillowy carbo-pad in our stomachs for the booze to comfortably land upon through out the day.
first up was o'nieal's. alexis and i donned our shirts in my living room and then strolled up the street on the beautifully perfect afternoon towards the boozery. laquanda, kathy, roxy, and jamilet were waiting for us there, but we were taking our time, living up the warm sun, and getting a kick out of people trying to stare at our shirts as we passed. finally, people were staring at my chest instead of just hers!
as soon as we arrived, we're drinking. people're snapping photos and ordering rounds and hot bartendresses are hugging alexis (i think i got a pat or two). the crawl had officially begun with the very first sip o'booze. because the shirts mapped out the gameplan, we obviously knew where we were going. but, i wanted to leave it very loose, and mostly up to alexis, for how long we'd be at each bar; was it one drink a piece, an hour a piece, whatever a piece, etc.
i suggested a pace of about 45 minutes per bar, with funner bars getting an hour, lesser bars getting 30, and some buffer space for food and walking. the goal was to arrive at the final bar, the shannon, at around 10:30 or so, and we actually ended up getting there at almost exactly 10:30, so it was perfect. but rewinding a few hours to the start at o'nieal's, it was perfection there, as well. good moods all around, everyone happy for alexis, alexis incredibly excited, and beer flowing like... things that flow well. for around $5 a glass of that thing.
