Nah. If no one assassinated war criminals like Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld, they won't bother with the current billionaire in power. You want to take some dictators down, though, how about the Banks, the DNC, the GOP, the Federal Reserve, and the major Corporations...
Lets hope obama is the next dictator to be taken down.
Cue the Secret Service.

I don't understand your language. You're saying the rebels killed Gaddafi?
That's what I've heard and read.

So, the Libyans are okay with seeing the corpse of a fallen douche-bag and murderer... They have stronger stomach than Afghans and Pakistanis?

nothing says freedom and democracy like a screaming mob dragging a dead body (ANYONE's dead body) through the streets!
Would Ronald Reagan complain?

I seem to recall around the time they got osama, we had a conversation not too different from this. I was one of the few people on either side of the aisle to maintain that gloating over the death of anyone in such a way, no matter how horrible they were in life, severely compromises our own humanity and morality. so to answer your question, I think any rational, civilized human being would and should complain. people are so excited about all the upheaval the 'arab spring' brought that they're not really paying that much attention to the sort of people with which these dictators (who admittedly run the gamut from douchetastic to deplorable) are being replaced.

I actually agree. I cannot, in good conscience, celebrate the death of another human being. I also find it funny the US media will show the Gaddafi video, but not the Osama one...
I thought it was because Obama & Co. wouldn't release the footage? Funny that we get to see Saddam hang (assuming that wasn't one of his decoy look-alikes), and Gaddafi's body dragged through the streets (assuming that's him, as well). But, we don't get to see Osama's body? I smell shenanigans...

It's because the Osama footage was all government footage. No Joe Scmoe's with camera phones for that one.

I sympathise with the sentiment, but I'm not going to judge those who have been oppressed for decades with torture, rape, murder etc.

I won't shed any tears for evil dictators that killed thousands (Saddam and Ghaddafi). But the idea of getting rid of these guys is to replace them with a system that guarantees basic rights and the rule of law.
Killing these guys the way they were isn't rule of law.
And as has been reported from more objective and less euphoric news services, the revolutionary elements in Libya, Egypt and elsewhere in the mid-east are tied to radical islamic groups, and even Al Qaida. At the very least unfriendly to the U.S., and possibly as murderous and terror-prone as Saddam Hussein and Ghaddafi were.
Much has been said about killing Osama Bin Ladin, and that this too was unlawful. But Bin Ladin had declared war on the United States, and has been responsible for killing tens of thousands in nations worldwide. Bin Ladin was a military target, taken out in a military operation by soldiers. I think it's a reasonable subject for debate in the interest of defining and protecting our rule of law, but that's my take on it.
15. The captain of the squad is solely responsible for the grooming and trimming of Muammar’s ’70s-era porn actor ‘stache.
14. Turn-over is rapid in the Virgin Bodyguard Squad, especially after those late-night drinking binges at Muammar’s palace.
13. Last year, a group of Virgin Assassins attempted to kill Gaddafi, but the Virgin Bodyguard Squad gave each assassin an atomic wedgie, defusing the hostile situation.
12. One of the oldest members of the Virgin Bodyguards was tossed out of the squad recently when it was discovered that she was a virgin because she was just really ugly.
11. All Virgin Bodyguard Squad members must complete rigorous training in Jiu-Jitsu, Tang Soo Do, Judo and lap dancing.
10. When the squad’s religious leader is selected each year, she must personally prove to Gaddafi that she’s ready to assume the missionary position.
9. Particularly good virgin bodyguards are kept on the team even after being labeled “virgin-ish.”
8. The phrase “Look at the bazookas on that one” has multiple meanings in Gaddafi’s inner circle.
7. The prize for winning Guard of the Month is two nights with Muammar (the losers get three nights).
6. Transsexuals DO have a place in Islam!
5. The mandatory midnight pillow fights frequently end up in the E.R.
4. Rule #28 of the Guard Code requires that each virgin must have the ability to touch her nose with her tongue.
3. Those aren’t DD breasts, it’s body armor
2. During a recent Scrabble game, the Virgins discovered a previously-unknown 15th way to spell “Gaddafi.”
And the number one little known fact about Muammar Gaddafi’s Virgin Bodyguard Squad:
I have a lot of mixed feelings about all of this. While I was no fan of Gaddafi, I'm not sure about whether or not there is really a Libya without him. As a country, it is only sixty years old. Forty of those being under Gaddafi and the rest being under a king that didn't enjoy the full confidence of the "Libyan" people. I'm hopeful but not sure that there is enough of a sense of "Libyan" nationalism to keep the country from sinking into a quagmire of extreme Islamism and ethnic tribalism.
As for the murder itself, I can't say I'll miss the guy but...damn...every new video that release makes me a little more cynical on the outcome of all of this.

That's basically what happens with states that are based on former European colonies, conquered with rifles and created with pencil and ruler on a map. For example, the resentment between Benghazi and Tripoli stems from that Tripoli was the administrative centre when Italy ruled Libya.
It should be noted that "The Mad Dog of the Middle East" at least tried to side with the Islamists at the end of his shattering reign.

AFAIK, the reason bin Ladin was killed on the spot instead of getting arrested is that there would be a risk of Al-Qaida trying to spring him from jail and/or by any means necessarily disturb the trial.
The same could be said about The Mad Dog.

Navy SEALS killed and buried Bin Laden. Libyan rebels killed (and didn't bury) Gaddafi. Obama had no control over the footage of the latter. He did over the former.
Seriously, Pro. It's come to this: You've gotten so kooky that you've actually got me agreeing with MEM and defending Obama.

Oh no! I express slightly humorous insinuations of "shenanigans" and you go on the attack.
Seriously, G. It's come to this: You've gotten your ass handed to you so many times by me, that you are becoming as emotionally defensive as Wonder Boy.
I don't know how much stock I put in the consistently anti-american Russian Television network, but...
...if the NATO governments and the U.S. are suppressing coverage of the atrocities committed by the Libyans we are allied with, this is one sample of footage that got through. Although I don't see that it's been any secret that forces rebelling against Ghaddafi are some brutal characters, radical muslims capable of the same murderous tendencies as Ghaddafi's government.
Although this is the first I've heard of mass graves and slaughters since the rebellion began. (Again: if RT can ever be believed)
This certainly matches killings of Christians and other non-muslims, burning of churches, and lesser violence against non-muslims in the wake of the media's much exhulted liberating of Egypt. The lessons of Orwell's Animal Farm are apparently still being learned.
The Romanians did at least put up a show trial and a firing squad (when taking down the Ceausescus)...
... but frankly, The Mad Dog had it coming. (No pun intended.)
