Forbes Magazine: The 400 Richest Americans Pay An 18% Tax Rate
The 400 richest Americans used to pay 30% of their income on the average to Uncle Sam. Today, they pay 18% on the average, according to Steve Rattner, a Wall Street financier, who just presented these figures on Mornings With Joe,MSNBC.
The main reason for the drop in their tax rate of some 40% is the tax cuts by George Bush in 2003, taking the rate paid on dividends and capital gains down to 15%. This reduction in the investment class’s taxes powered the bull market in stocks from the fall of 2003 until the fall of 2007.
Shockingly, the plan to raise the debt ceiling collects nothing from the wealthiest Americans to reduce our budget deficit. The Republican right wing holds the Obama White House hostage. It’s a sad day for the principle of sharing the pain equitably.

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign asked Florida Governor Rick Scott to tone down his statements heralding improvements in the state’s economy because they clash with the presumptive Republican nominee’s message that the nation is suffering under President Barack Obama, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Scott, a Republican, was asked to say that the state’s jobless rate could improve faster under a Romney presidency, according to the people, who asked not to be named.
What’s unfolding in Florida highlights a dilemma for the Romney campaign: how to allow Republican governors to take credit for economic improvements in their states while faulting Obama’s stewardship of the national economy. Republican governors in Ohio, Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin also have highlighted improving economies.

I'm pointing out that you are advancing two contradictory theories in different threads at approximately the same time. In one thread, which you started, you say the economy stinks and and republicans are to blame. In the other you support the idea that the economy is doing fine and that Romney is trying to cover that up. You can't legitimately support both theories. So either you don't believe what you posted in the first thread or you should have reason not to believe the anonymous sources in the latter thread. Furthermore, as noted in the part of the latter article you didn't cite: - Lane Wright, a Scott spokesman, issued a statement disputing that a Romney official had asked for the governor’s message to be changed.
So, really, all you're citing is anonymous, hearsay, allegations for the latter point.

However, there's nothing in the article you cited to support that assertion. First, as noted above, there is no one on the record saying that. Furthermore, the anonymous sources aren't described as being "somebody from the Romney campaign." The are described as "two people familiar with the matter." That's an incredibly general description and could apply to various parties having absolutely no role in either the Romney campaign or the GOP itself. Finally, I would point out that you also failed to cite this part of the article, which would tend to undercut the argument that economy is doing better in FL: - In Florida, signs of a sagging economy remain.
The 18 percent of Florida mortgages in foreclosure or 90 days past due is the highest rate in the country, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. Commercial buildings remain vacant across the state.

Citing a story from a reputable source like Bloomberg isn't making things up G-man. Nor is it one of those stories that's hard to believe. The republican gov. has been touting the recovery in Florida. That doesn't help Romney in a key swing state for November. My guess is we'll see Scott's campaign adjust their message to make it more Romney friendly.

My company has been selling hundreds of thousands of dollars in goods and services and I've single handedly raised my departments profitability by 50% and to celebrate they've neutered my entire departments income. Now for every $1000 I bill the company gives me $25. Fuckers. And then they threatened my job when I spoke up. Bring on Depression 2.0.
