to be honest, no one at DC, even your faithful gob, is really sure what will happen to and with the message boards.
the change is an aol mandated one. and aol owns time warner. time warner owns warner brothers. warner brothers owns DC. DC owns me. and thus, the change will go on, despite protests.
so now, my main concern is the 20,000 (tho recently "crisised" to around 15,000) members, who have registered and grown familiar on the current forums. will post totals be lost? will hundreds of individuals race to register the name "rob kamphausen"? will once banned posters, like those nefarious "daycare boys" ... or whatever they're called... now be able to freely mingle with the common folk of the DCMBs? will hip, teen phrases like "nuh-uh" and "talk to the hand" be the focus of these future conversations?
these are all details that need to be ironed out, for better or for worse (in sickness and in health)
no, it's not just you. the dcmb have gotten to be quite a minefield of late. take the wonder woman boards, once a place where actual discourse was once possible. now it's one long slew of egomania after another. worse, certain posters (you know who you are- okay, hi sarah!) who were once seen as voices of reason on the boards have taken to attacking writer/artist phil jimenez and then later making weak attempts at glossing the whole thing over. where some accused jimenez of pushing a gay agenda, now some of the fans seem to expend the majority of their energy in doing just that and also in warring amongst themselves. it's a waste, i tell you. a bloody waste.

It wasn't that long ago the GL board was looked apon as a minefield of arguments but now it seems like most of the boards are the same.
more or less, the "more aggresive" forums are the books that have any controversy in them, what-so-ever.
wonder woman is now a hot spot because there are gay issues, interracial issues, polittical issues... she's got'em all! and at the same time, no less. thats why the forum has more or less exploded in the past few months (and also why im hated and feared in there now! mwah hwah hwah).
the authority suffered like that for awhile, but has cooled down a lot. ... but really, thats only cuz they get 2 issues a year, or so.
GL was mad, and got madder, now that they're tangling more with gay issues and race-relations of sorts.
titans, jsa, even codename knockout... they're all craziness.
and, because everything is "real time" on the forums, it doesnt matter if there was one of me, or one thousand of me (fear that!), the craziness'd still exist.
notta bad microcosmic view of our purdy lil planet, for better or worse, if'n y'ask me.

Oh you are so very right! It really has become a wasteland of late. I can't take all the nastiness any more! Here at least you can discuss and agree to disagree. more my kind of place.
your right, it is much more open an atmosphere here, vw. i must confess i was shocked an disappointed by your friend sarah's behaviour on the ww boards, but ciest la vie, no? i'm surprised that it got to you, as you seemed to be one of the most popular posters there. anyhow, nice to have you here again.

Thanks,WW. Actually I don't know her at all. A lot of folks seem to want to denigrate others over there of late. I can't stand that type of thing. I know we dont agree on a lot but thats half the fun of disgussion and I learn about other points of view. It makes me more well rounded and heaven knows I need that! Thanks for being there WW.
odd, she always gave the impression of knowing you, but i guess that's just the familiarity of the boards. no, we don't agree on alot, but that makes it all the more interesting. i was thinking last night- in bed with bad respiratory infection- whilst reading a diana prince issue how much you'd have loved it, i-ching, the espionage, and all. really love that period and wish for a hardcover collection. sigh. who knows, we might run into one another at golden age someday.

You most certainly can! Maybe next time the Army sends me to Texas I'll buy you lunch!
I miss those old Diana Prince stories sometime... They weren't all bad!

that would be so cool, astirid, thanks! of course, if i happen to be in my beloved emerald city first, we can maybe meet for lunch at briazz near ranier square, or perhaps you could even show me someplace you like to eat.
gods, i miss the sight of pacific avenue lit by the blazing sun. that's the one pic i missed, ran out of film at the gasworks, out of the 375 i shot. we were in the walkway crossing from nordstroms when we saw everything beneath suddenly bathed in the most beautiful golden autumn sunlight. i don't think i'll ever forget that sight.
so which of the diana prince stories were your faves? the two-part with catwoman stands out for me, as well as diana going after lu-shan. i loved the theme of those stories: wonder woman as everywoman.
hope your having a great day.

Hey,Rob,a few months ago when you shut down the Lobo boards Did you read some of the posts that came after you anounced the boards would be closed? Some of the hardcore Lobo fans were calling you names and threatening you.Did they send you any hate E-mail? I hope you,and everyone else, realizes that not all us Lobo fans behave that way.
I was amazed how about 90% of the people who post here were multiple time ban-ees(myself included), yet this is actually one of the better and less...."pugnacious" boards I post on(not including any conversations involving Oprah Winfrey of course).
Hey, Rob! WHY would AOL want less security ??? Don't people make money from making others secure?? Openness is wonderful. Heh, I agree it's gonna make my chocolate milk spurt through my nose when the change hits and all the whiners will have to start all over.
But no, really, why no security concerns from AOL? Be specific, pleeze...
