This is an excellent interview with Darwyn Cooke, where he describes his big project "New Frontier," focusing on Hal Jordan and the Silver Age DCU:

Rob, I'm thinking this will be right up your alley. And for anyone unfamiliar with Cooke, he is great. He's definitely influenced by Jack Kirby, and his style should appeal to fans of Bruce Timm, Mike Allred, or Mike Mignola. Check out the graphic novel Batman: Ego (he wrote and drew it), or the new Catwoman TPB that he penciled with Allred inking. All worthy reads.

[...rassamnfrackin...] ...stupid silver age garbage face... [...rassamnfrackin...]

ill give it this much -- the art looks very cool. like you said, bbvl, its very much like a mignola or a wagner book. good stuff.

and its VERY silver age. superman with a black emblem and red "pants" -- batman with purple gloves!

story wise... tho im not a big silver age fan by any means, this just seems cool as hell. its like an animated, silver age world (if that makes any sense) streamlining everything, re-introducing classic characters at their most... classic...ness.

and how!

Not a fan of Cooke. I love Allred and Mignola's work, but Cooke doesn't really do it for me(as much as I like Catwoman I'm enjoying Stewart's run much more than Cooke's). I'll check out the series though.

I liked the point about newer fans being introduced to the Hal in emerald Dawn.
