3 years and multiple fake-promises are coming to an end.
i received a phone call and 2 emails from wb and dc higher ups during the past week, announcing the arrival of the new DCMBs. today's phone call from my boss jesus solidified the upcoming event.
tomorrow afternoon, i meet with some other dc/web individuals to plan out and prepare for the new launch.
afterward, i should be able to provide some sorta look at the future, good or bad. stay tuned!

first off, i just ask thatcha sorta do yer best to keep this info here. not that i really care if you go out and email everyone in yer list, but... certainly this sorta news is gonna hit the 20,000+ members of the DCMBs and make my job a hellish nightmare to control it. id rather that the nightmare only lasted 2 weeks when dc unveils the info, rather than 10 when you do.that said....whoakay -- here we go. after a 4 hour meeting of booze and nerdery (we went to a bar across the street from dc once it hit 6 -- didnt leave until 9:30 or so), here is what i walked away with: all of dc's properties are getting site facelifts. the new dc, wildstorm, and mad sites ARE all actually quite nice. the dc site, for example, has a black-to-blue gradient bg, and is loaded with better images. much nicer layout, i must say -- headline graphics to the top, and large! cool design. ... for the site. the boards will... be different. as feared, rumored, and speculated for well over a year now, WB is taking control of all of their MBs. despite all of my protests and pimping of clinging to infopop's program, when WB speaks, DC listens. bsams's link is actually a pretty good idea -- but like i speculated last time the upgrade was discussed, the harry potter boards are more specific -- a better representation of whats to expect. and on first glance, thats pretty scary. however, as you navigate in and around the board, you'll note that its 90% similar -- even benefited with significant upgrades and improvements, like more smileys, buddy icons, color fonts n'stuff. here is that boards faq to help illustrate the new features. thats the good. the one, nagging bad? everyone, as far as we currently know, will start from scratch in the screen name dept. no post totals, no history, no nothin. and how! hopefully, that can be overcome. or at least people can learn to deal. i'll be getting a preview of the admin section soon, to make sure i can rid the new dcmbs of offenders. like franta. turn around time is listed as 8-10 weeks. realistically, id say by mid-june.

Aw, man... Only reason I'd bothered hanging around DC so long is because it was still UBB/Infopop. Plus, I had a history there. These boards you point to are slow loading and shitty looking. its not that DC is too stubborn ... its that TW is.
ALL warner boards are getting (or have already received) a warner make over. its an effort to save money and gain more control over their product. business wise, it of course makes much more sense to do it that way.
personally, i like infopop's tech much better, but... its not like warner's is SO different.
believe you me, i've tried to do what i can to sell infopop to'em, but... its a decision way above my head, and one made years ago.
in terms of importing threads or users, nothing is known right now. the techs are still looking into the feasibility of things. if you want a safe answer, no, nothing will be imported.
