If Hal is back, he'll become GL, and be shuffled off into the cosmos, with Kyle still as Earth's GL.

DC Isn't gonna give the fans everything they want.

Hal Jordan was the Green Lantern
I read back in the 60's.

I grew up reading his adventures.

If he came back, if written
properly, it could be ok.

True dat!

Just leave him as The Spectre but give him a better writer. I've said it before, and I'll yell it again: The Spectre, Hal Jordan, is a good idea that's been handled quite shittily.

The problem with Green Lantern post-Hal has been the way that they got rid of Hal. The powers to be at DC decided that, just because sales were low, no one cared about Hal (instead of what it really meant: that the book was poorly written and drawn at the time). Therefore, they turned him into an insane mass murderer, in a badly written story that ignored the character's 40 year history as hero. And people didn't like that. So they kept trying to redeem Hal, kill him off, bring him back as the Spectre, etc. And each new idea simply built upon that same old flawed story premise. So of course it has never worked.

Fuck Hal Jordan. Fuck Hal Jordan Spectre. It made little sense anyway.

I want Kyle Rayner to defile Jordan's corpse and name him self the "One True Green Lantern" in a drunken stupor.

Hal Jordan isn't the one true Green Lantern. The one true Green Lantern is finally allowed to use the name that was created for him. Alan Scott, the original, and greatest Green Lantern.

Don't know what to think of this. I doubt it will actually happen.
I was the SDCon when all this started and even though I didn't personally talk to Mr. Tomasi,he did spill the beans to one of my close pals.

Basically what was said went like this....

"Mr. Tomasi, congrats on taking over GL,is there any way that we will get Hal back as a GL again?"

"I don't want to say too much but,Hal Jordan fans will be very happy next year."

I also talked to a couple of former GL creators and they told me that the people that didn't want Hal Jordan back as a GL again are gone so there's nothing really keeping it from happening now.
They also said that as far as they know,Kyle isn't going anywhere either which has also been confirmed by two members of the current creative team.

Peter Tomasi has said that he wants to create a GL franchise next year and it's been said by another unnamed member of the team that there is more then likely going to be 3 GL books out next year.

I know these are pretty vague but the folks that I talked to seemed like they wanted this kept quit so I'm going to respect thier privacy.

It looks to me like we are going to have Kyle and Hal with thier own books and possibly Alan or John as well,if not an anthology title like GLC Quarterly was.

Either way, next year is probabaly gonna be huge for GL and I can't wait to see what's really gonna happen.

This has a "Former member of H.E.A.T that digs Kyle Rayner and has no reason to lie" rating of 10 out of 10 Lanterns.

So basically he could be talking bout anything!
Lets face it,we could be talking bout a Legends of GL type book featuring stories about Hal in the past!

Yup.

And until DC says "Because fandom demanded it!Hal Jordan is Green Lantern again!" in print then I wouldn't get too worked up about it.

3 GL books?

Sounds excessive to me. Green Lantern had enough trouble supporting one title for a long time, let alone 3.

A good point. I don't see how they could view Spectre's decline(it's initial sales were fantastic, but didn't last long) as anything but a catastrophy, considering the popularity of the character(both Hal Jordan and Specture, really).

Could they really rationalize another ongoing series?

I was thinking more along the lines of 2 of them written by Morrison. That would generate sales.

DC had 4 Green Lantern books during the early '90s, when sales were high: GREEN LANTERN, GUY GARDNER, GREEN LANTERN: MOSAIC (starring John Stewart), and GREEN LANTERN QUARTERLY. Not too shabby. Those were the days to be a Green Lantern fan -- there were enough diverse Green Lanterns to satisfy almost everyone. It was sad to see all of that come tumbling down in '94... [eh... i dunno... ] I wasn't one of those "rabid" fans I've heard about only in the last few years that got insanely angry at what was done to the Hal Jordan character -- I actually don't remember having any strong feeling one way or the other. The main Green Lantern book had already begun to get stale, and although I stuck with it and a new Green Lantern named Kyle Rayner for a couple of years, I eventually dropped it and haven't looked back since. Rayner just doesn't interest me as a character. Nor has Hal Jordan in any role but Green Lantern -- Parallax was brainless, and the Spectre is a whiny, introspective (with an abusive father, naturally) guy they call Hal Jordan but who is most definitely NOT the real Hal Jordan, who I remember as being more of a "Top Gun" Tom Cruise sort.
