I happened to go to the Bat-board. Not my usual hangout, but I was bored at work.

I'm intrigued by some of the guesses for Hush. I haven't read it at all, but the premise was interesting.

Some of the candidates:

1. Jason Todd. This one was what attracted my attention.

2. Azrael

3. Bane

Some of the others were silly - a new character, Gordon, Nightwing.

Any thoughts?

Loeb brought back Krypto, why not Todd? They're both equally retarded.

Below is the advance solicitation for Batman 617:

quote:
With just three issues to go, the mystery of "Hush" deepens! For months, the relationship between Batman and Catwoman has been heating up. Everyone seems happy about it, except for Robin, the Boy Wonder! Robin's got some issues with Catwoman and the secrets she knows. Does Batman's young partner have the stuff to take out Catwoman? Or will the Cat swallow the little bird? It all leads up to Batman making the most startling discovery of all...and here's a hint: The story is titled "The Grave!"
"The Grave." The Jason Todd theorists (who killed my motivation to visit the DCMBs for a while) must be pointing at their screens exclaiming "I told you so!". They're not using their imaginations...or their memories, for that matter.
They're examing Hush's appearance (which could very well be drug induced) and not his methods.
1) Look at the way Hush is manipulating the villains. You don't think Hush realizes their silence is frustrating Batman?
2) If Hush is aware of Batman's methods, chances are he's also deduced his double identity.
3) "The Grave." If that's not a red herring (and I sincerly believe it isn't), then Hush is someone previously believed to be dead. But it's not Jason Todd. Getting to the point, I'm gonna name my suspect.

Hush is...Hugo Strange.

It can't be Jason Todd. They wouldn't have an obscure character running parallel in two different books. (See the solicit for Gotham Knights #43)

I'm thinking that Hush will be a name character.... all these new readers will be yelling "what gives!" if it's someone like Hugo Strange. I mean, the only regular we haven't seen yet is Two-Face. But that is too obvious.

It's Tommy, you retards. Loeb wanted to create a mystery where the enemy was so obvious, and then he would make it seem more obscure.

Tommy can anticipate Bruce's moves in advance, going back to when they played strategy games. He is a doctor and has access to Arkham Asylum. He had the Joker "kill" him to take away any theories surrounding it being him. The empty grave is his.

Notice how he has a temper. "No one takes anything away from me!" Must hold an old grudge against Brucey, or he is just playing him for the hell of it, like a real-life strategic battle.

We know that. There's another thread around here somewhere in which Chewy pointed all of that out.

Two Face. I think that's pretty obvious now.

I think Hush is two-face. The bandages are a psychological method for dealing with his personality schism-also provides yet another alias. Elliott may have performed surgery on Harvey. Hush uses "we" a lot, says messages about friends, and split the money in half with Ivy....Hush knows a lot more about batman/bruce wayne than we are probably privy to now. It's two-face.... Batman also pairs up with people..probably on purpose...catwoman, superman, huntress, soon nightwing....

I entered her and Bruce's names into a love tester once. They had a 94% compatability rating. Maybe he should have told her.
Getting back to the subject of Hush, I don't think it's Harvey. It might be my expanding knowledge of symbolism talking, but I think the appearance of the scarred coin could mean:
  • Two-Face is actually who Hush is after. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Harvey were set up as the second gunman...
  • Whoever is behind the bandages maintains close ties to Two-Face either past or present (thereby allowing Hush to utilize Two-Face's mob connections).

I remain steadfast in believing Hush is not Jason Todd, alternate timeline or otherwise. Let the dead rest in peace.

I found this new post on the Bat Boards rather interesting:
quote:
In "Dead Reckoning" the current story line in Detective which just wrapped up, the main bad guy is Paul Sloan, a little known character with an appparent mad on for Two-Face. Not only is this guy's face horribly scarred, (just like, supposedly, Hush) he has a coin like Two-Face's except its scratched on both sides. (like the one we saw Hush flipping around in Batman #614). At the end of the story he is in a hospital bed in Arkham (but we all know how easy it is to escape from that place. Tommy Elliot is a doctor right? Maybe Elliot helped Sloan escape and in return for offering to use his skills as a surgeon to fix his face, Sloan agrees to make Batman's life a living hell. For Elliot to have a grudge against Batman though he would have to know that he is really Bruce Wayne and maybe he does. It would certainly explain a few of his more cryptic comments. Sloan gets tired of waiting for Elliot to make good on his promise and offs him (making it look like Joker did it). Now you know. At least that's my theory. How bout it Jeph ?

Shondra Kinsolving was my top suspect for a while, but not anymore.

I cannot believe it's Tommy, Jason Todd, or Azrael. Luthor wouldn't risk it.

Here's a suspect that i don't think anyone's considered - Alfred Stryker, the bad guy Batman knocks into a vat of acid at the end of the first Batman story.

Whaddya think?

Harvey slashes it exactly the same way every time he makes one. Bats can tell if it's not the real deal.....and yes unless it really is Harvey then the coin is a fake. One theory that I saw on the Bat-Boards and I am warming up too is it's Harvey and he's bandage up because he is now either totally scarred up on both sides or he reconstructed his face. Good to see you Darknight613. [whaaaa!]

But Batman never actually saw the coin, did he?

I think Ambush Bug is the obvious answer to this question. I was leaning toward on of the Dingbats of Danger Street, but my opinion was swayed.

Can't be Ambush Bug. DC sold the rights to Marvel, that's using him in the Upcoming Top Secret Power Pack project. Bill Jemas said so himself in Joe Quesada's board.

A lot of people are saying Hush must be Two-Face because of the coin. But a couple of issues ago, it showed Hush laughing at the end and a lot of people said he must be the Joker. I think these are intentional red herrings left by Loeb.
