Well, there's no "must," but I do appreciate your saying so. Between this and what TD-the-ghost was doing on other threads, I gathered that at least some of the moderators had chosen to begin editing for content.

I'd wait to see whether the "he didn't have" kicks in over the longer term, such as a few days of his not coming back to make such graffiti ... but that's me.

What bothers me is suddenly seeing "Edited by" (this only appears when the moderators do it) without any explanation. That ends up making it appear that we can't count on our words being here when we come back to them.

It's also given the wrong impression to some newcomers such as "Polar Boy," who thought anyone could edit anyone else's posts. I made a note in passing to him on another thread about that not being the case.

Mike, I simply asked, once, in public. I had no "obsession," and I regret giving any appearance of having one. I also thought it possible that you had changed your mind since your telling me privately last week that you didn't have alternate IDs at this forum.

With the tangle of edits and re-edits above I couldn't tell what you were writing, or re-writing, or only apparently re-writing, for that other guy -- or if that was another guy. I doubt I was the only one.

I know many of us would appreciate your proclaiming this in a sticky post, if you the four moderators have come to a policy consensus -- and intend to remove spammed postings or images, how you define such spam, and whether you will be doing it in the future without notice otherwise to the rest of us.

Without hearing anything else from you, I have been reluctant in the last few days to post any more hotlinked Legion or fan-art images, on the chance that you the mods had decided that you didn't want them any more. I wasn't able to tell whether what I had posted earlier, or might yet post, was now "offensive" or "obnoxious" to you or not. You posted no standards.

If you have generated policy, on anti-spam, images, or otherwise, we the members need to know what it is.

No anti-pics policy that I know of, but I will continue to delete spammy posts/pics like the picture of Llance sleeping. Seeing that ONCE was quite enough (and I did NOT delete the original post of it, on the first TRIVIA thread).

And Grey, you should be the first to support "Ghost-TD's" decision to keep her identity/whereabouts protected and private... as you are a noted advocate against ID-theft and whatnot.

I'm glad you're here, I always like having you around, but I feel you are looking for misdeeds where there simply ARE none.

Well, nobody's defined "spammy," Mike. That's the problem. If I end up hotlinking twice to the same Legion art, will you delete any second appearances? And how far apart must they be for me to avoid this? We need definitions.

As for TD, since you ask, I don't see someone who walls herself off this thoroughly -- it wasn't clear, until I asked you, whether "her" even applied -- as being well-suited to the role of a moderator. Not knowing even her first name does not inspire trust. Nor would making a few such details known compromise her.

Only that we need to avoid even the appearances of the arbitrary. This is a forum of newly created rules, in many ways, unlike the old DCMBs where matters were fixed. Things need to be threshed out. Dialogs like this are part of it.

I am not finding fault for the helluvit. I just want to know what the four of you expect, and what you will not allow -- before we who post, and you who mod, waste time and create misunderstandings.

I don't think it's necessary to inform us of every reason that someone gets moderated... it certainly doesn't happen on the DC Boards. However, I do feel that the person being moderated should be informed as to why it has happened, that way they can learn from their own mistakes.

Unless moderation becomes excessive, I guess I just feel that their judgement should be trusted. We elected them to do the job... they shouldn't have to explain themselves every time they perform it. Unless, of course, the issue is large enough that they feel explanation is necessary.

Grey, I wish you had brought all this up BEFORE the Mod elections.

A majority of LHQ posters saw fit to elect Teeds as a moderator.

And that is really all there is to it. She won the post fair and square, as did Scott, EDE and myself.

Although, I have a problem with Lardy posting as himself now that his EDE guise won mod duties...

Mllash did his job as moderator...it was no big deal, until you started questioning it. He does not have to explain every decision he makes. I am a board mod at another board, and I mod with the understandeing that I have that position for a reason. Just like Lash does here.

The reasons behind his decisions are easy enough to determine...or are you really looking for a problem where there is none?

I regret having only edited and/or deleted posts when specifically asked to do so - really, one expects more from an Imra-class Iron Butt such as myself. But you see I have been quite busy not only with my Senatorial duties but promoting my new book as well.

Thank you moderators, it sounds like the spam was getting tiresome and cumbersome.

As for identities, I don't care if our moderators are dogs, the 4 Monkees, Proteans or actually who they say - or don't say - they are. As long as the checks and balances work. Of course, we can always appeal to Gob if a problem develops.

Hey, no skin off my nuggets in the end, but isn't Rob's boards supposed to be a sort of "Anything Goes" joint??? Have you guys taken a stroll around the rest of this board yet? The mods on the other forums seem to be pretty loosey-goosey in regard to their moderating style. Just sayin'...

As far as why we haven't posted an official policy, it's because we haven't generated any sort of official policy. We're playing this by ear, and figuring out what we're doing as we go along. Once we've had a little more time to get used to this, maybe we'll draw up some more precise guidelines.

As far as we're concerned, anything does go, up until the point where it simply becomes obnoxious or disrespectful to other posters. The barrage of "Legion am gay" posts and repetition of the same picture of Llance all over the place was clearly beyond the pale. Note in particular that the Llance picture was posted on the Legion Trivia II thread, which I purposely started because the original thread had become cluttered with postings of/discussions of the picture. We're not doing anything unreasonable here, but expecting posters to use a little common sense and common courtesy.

Perhaps in the future we should be more explicit about why we are editing/deleting things, but, hey, as I said, we're figuring this out as we go along... so chill!
