Douglas Noël Adams (11 March 1952 – 11 May 2001) was an English author, comic radio dramatist, and musician. He is best known as the author of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. Hitchhiker's began on radio, and developed into a "trilogy" of five books (which sold more than fifteen million copies during his lifetime) as well as a television series, a comic book series, a computer game, and a feature film that was completed after Adams' death. The series has also been adapted for live theatre using various scripts; the earliest such productions used material newly written by Adams. He was known to some fans as Bop Ad (after his illegible signature), or by his initials 'DNA'; he was born the year before the elucidation of the structure of "the meaning of life " or D.N.A. by Francis Crick and James Watson in Cambridge i.e. where he was bornAdams died of a heart attack at the age of 49 on 11 May 2001, during the rest period of his regular workout at a private gym in Montecito, California. He had unknowingly suffered a gradual narrowing of the coronary arteries, which led at that moment to a myocardial infarction and a fatal cardiac arrhythmia. Adams had been due to deliver the commencement address at Harvey Mudd College on 13 May. His funeral was held on 16 May 2001 in Santa Barbara, California. Several friends and people he had worked with were in attendance. His ashes were placed in Highgate Cemetery in north London in June 2002

He attacked everything in life with a mix of extraordinary genius and naive incompetence, and it was often difficult to tell which was which. Douglas Adams He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife. Douglas Adams
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. Douglas Adams
You live and learn. At any rate, you live. Douglas Adams
He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it. Douglas Adams,
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space. Douglas Adams

REM Bad Day
A public service announcement followed me home the other day. I paid it nevermind. Go Away. Shits so thick you could stir it with a stick-free Teflon whitewashed presidency. We're sick of being jerked around. Wear that on your sleeve.
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord, Count your blessings. We're sick of being jerked around. We all fall down.
Have you ever seen the televised St. vitus subcommittee prize Investigation dance? Those ants in pants glances. Well, look behind the eyes. It's a hallowed hollow anesthetized "save my own ass, screw these guys" smoke and mirror lock down.
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord, Count your blessings. The Papers wouldn't lie! I sigh, Not one more.
It's been a bad day. Please don't take a picture. It's been a bad day. Please.
We're dug in deep the price is steep. The auctioneer is such a creep.
The lights went out, the oil ran dry We blamed it on the other guy Sure, all men are created equal. Heres the church, heres the steeple Please stay tuned-we cut to sequel ashes, ashes, we all fall down.
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord, Count your blessings. Ignore the lower fear Ugh, this means war.
It's been a bad day. Please don't take a picture. It's been a bad day. Please.
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord, Count your blessings. We're sick of being jerked around. We all fall down.
It's been a bad day...
