Here Wal-Mart does all the major carriers. Also I think the exclusivity was two years so it may be close to passing or passed.

I sort of hope you're right if, for no other reason, so all the Wal-Mart hating urbanite bohemians who are craving an iPhone are forced to make their deal with the "corporate devil."

The iphone will lose its appeal to the urbanites. Levi's, Starter, LEI, and other department store brands were consider junk by elitists when they started getting sold at wal-mart. which really shows stupidity, if a brands quality was seen as worth the marked up price, why would it not still be worth it at a lower price?

Holiday shopping for hot items at a bargain price took on a new form this week as rumors flew on the Web about a 4GB iPhone to be available at Wal-Mart for $99. That phone was initially to be rolled out at a $399 price tag. the 8GB iphone full price is $399 (16GB full price is $599). i'm no scientist, like uschi and batman, but i'd think the 4GB version would be $199. and, if that's the case, that'd mean the price for new members or those ready for an upgrade would be about $99, anyway -- walmart, or otherwise. Although leading mobile operators are subsidizing more smartphones to reach lower prices, they tie the device to two-year contracts with monthly data-plan rates, which remain too expensive for the mainstream user that's the kinda-hidden catch for all these new smart phones. the phones, themselves, might be between $100-$500 or so, but they all come with $100/month usage charges. so even if you got one free, it's a $1200/year expense.

I've seen people like you before, but I had to pay admission!
you go straight to hell, tony clifton. well i wont, nowhereman. you hear me?! i wont! if they're not willing to budge on that, and it doesn't seem like they're too willing to play ball, that could be my decision maker right there. they blinked! i am now iphoned. the honeymoon period will last several hours, so i'm going to enjoy them! you won't regret it. it's been fun so far. i really like the idea of the apps, and that is what eventually sold me on the iphone direction. above and beyond the screen (which is fun) and music and all that, the apps really make it possible for the phone to be continually updated and perfected. (in a nerd-similar note, stuff like facebook apps and wordpress apps are really in the same vein, giving smarter reg'lar folks out there the ability to develop cool new features for the mass audience) i already have like 50 apps! Application add ons are pretty much the standard with all smartphones, and have been for years now.

Here Wal-Mart does all the major carriers. Also I think the exclusivity was two years so it may be close to passing or passed. The AT&T exclusive runs out in August 2012 so there is still a very long time before other carriers will see an iPhone. I sort of hope you're right if, for no other reason, so all the Wal-Mart hating urbanite bohemians who are craving an iPhone are forced to make their deal with the "corporate devil." Walmart will not see an iPhone till the exclusive runs out and maybe not ever even after that. Jobs didn't want the product "cheapened" which I think is stupid. Apple offered the exclusive to Verizon first since they have the better network. But Verizon likes to seel their phones at Costco, Walmart, Best Buy and wherever they can find a spot to do so. Apple told them they aren't allowed to do that and Verizon figured they would play hardball and Apple would eventually come around and that is when Apple simply went to AT&T and the deal got done in days........so no Walmart.

I have more applications available for my phone than I know what to use. It came with a variation of microsoft office, that allows me to view word and excel files, and for a small fee, you can even edit or create them as well. Then theres the N-gage application, that allows you to play N-gage games (unsurprisingly). The app is free, but you have to buy the games. The youtube application is free. etc etc etc etc http://n95blog.com/another-20-applications-for-your-nokia-n95/

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10116553-37.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1040_3-0-5 Apple may have a new mobile phone to compete with--one that runs on its iPod Touch. Truphone's app turns the iPod Touch into a mobile phone. (Credit: Truphone) The MP3 player can be transformed into a mobile phone with the help of a free app from Internet telephone company Truphone. The new app allows users with a Wi-Fi connection to make and receive phone calls via voice over IP with other iPod Touch owners, users of the Google Talk's messaging service, and customers of Truphone's Internet telephone service. The company said it expects to add the ability to handle landline calls. The app creates a virtual keyboard on second-generation iPod Touchs to dial calls and requires the addition of a headset and microphone. However, Apple doesn't appear to be too threatened by Truphone; the application is available for free download at Apple's App Store. While the app could work with any device with Wi-Fi access, the company said it has decided to focus on devices with connections to an apps store. "We've decided to focus on devices that are Wi-Fi-enabled and have an apps store," Truphone CEO Geraldine Wilson told the BBC. "For the consumer, there has to be an easy way of downloading an application." Other planned features include the ability to phone and IM Skype and MSN VoIP users, and to check and set Twitter and Facebook. I'll be glad when we get the tech forum up and running rob.

Do either the N95 or N96 have a "blackberry" style keyboard and, if so, does it run on Windows Mobile or some other system? My phone is starting to get old and the Nokia looks pretty good.

All well and good, but I use my smartphone constantly in traffic court and elsewhere to send emails, schedule meetings and take notes. It needs to be something I can operate and "thumb type" on one-handed, ala a Blackberry or a Treo.

Rob is trying to get into PJP's pants. that has nothing to do with this topic! ...this topic...

...which would seem to be the kind of topic that a guy who works with computers would be explaining to the restaurant owner, not the other way around. in all honesty, the only other people who confuse computers with cell phones and their various processes are, in fact, my grandparents. i assure you, there's a difference between the two, even though they both have lots of that technology stuff in them. for example, you're really good at sucking cock, likely from your centuries of experience. but it'd be silly to think that also means you know a lot about rainbows, or shopping, or wearing leather, or whatever, just because those topics relate to your general field of "flaming". but, if that doesn't clear things up for you, i'm certain one of the orderlies will walk you through it later, g -- ask them after your pants cleaning!

the email is free you just use your existing accounts. for some of my accounts, i couldn't use my outgoing smtp because of restrictions on my server. worked fine will synced up, but thats pointless. i switched the others to the at&t one. still dunno if it'll ring me up an extra $500 bill, but it was worth the risk (uh... once) just to get it working Oh and someone change Grandpa's pants! not it!
