Anyone else come across this yet?
Basically a bunch of movies have been released with a bonus digital copy on them, that allows you to rip them to you PC or portable device.

So far I believe Sony is the main company behind this, but they are being cunts, and the only portable device you can save the file to, is a bloody PSP.

Yeah, I can save it to my PC, but thats pointless as I might just as well crack out the DVD and watch it on my 42" plasma tv if I am at home.
The whole point of this digital copy thing, was sposed to be about making your DVDs portable.
You can also transfer it to your PS3 from your PSP, by all accounts, but thats still hardly what you would call "portable"!

What made it even worse though, is the code provided in the DVD case, was invalid, so didnt work (it has to register online via the code) and I had to contact Sony to get a new code.

Ok, so I can understand why Sony might think that they should be pushing their own product with the PSP exclusivity, but I doubt that digital copy will make people rush out and buy a PSP to watch these films, seeing as the UMD function on the PSP has hardly been a raging success.

In the small print on the DVD case, it also states that the code must be redeemed by Nov 2009, so I dont know if that means that it will just make it impossible to rip after that date, or the file on your PC will expire as well.

All in all, this will not stop people downloading illegal files if you start putting so many restrictions on it (which is what they are partially trying to do).
