You don;t really read history books do you? Israel has been attacked in the past and when fighting back the attackers, occupied the land that was used for the attacks. I suppose you think they should have let the attackers regroup and attack again.
Israel has never called for the total destruction of it's neighbors, it's neighbors constantly call for it to be destroyed, for you to find defending against aggressors(which some times is ugly), and being an aggressor equally responsible is a bit baffling.
