Yes it was. They could have gotten out of the way and not killed. The great "tragedy" of katrina is that is showed just how pathetic some people really are. They sat there and died because the government didn't knock on their door and rescue them. Those are the true losers. The ones who have completely given up on independent thought.

Sure if they had evacuated before the storm hit they would have been safe, just like I'm sure bsams would have moved his family out of harms way before the roads got treacherous if he had known just how bad the ice storm was going to be. After Katrina hit, alot of people didn't have the option bsams had though.

I forgot, Bush ordered the National Guard was shooting any black people trying to evacuate. Sorry whomod, my memory isn;t so good.

I was thinking more of the massive flooding that made driving to a shelter not an option for many.

So how was bsams better than the Katrina people? From what he posted, he got caught in an ice storm and was just fortunate enough to have shelter he was able to get to. So many of the Katrina people got caught in the hurricane and had no way to get to shelter. I could understand your point if say bsams had heard a bad storm was coming and bought a generator or something in advance of the storm coming but he didn't.

He got out when he knew it was coming. He didn't sit there and bitch and moan and die like most the katrina people did. How many times do we have to go over this?

No he didn't. He got out after it started...

As the next day moved in we decided that we couldn't sit in the cold any longer waiting for the military that should have saved us. We had two choices, go south to Kentucky or north to some towns we heard still had power for supplies.

If he had applied the same stratagy with Katrina he may have found himself with no way of seeking shelter.

Do you think that perhaps getting out was easier for him since he had a road to use while with Katrina there was vast amounts of flooding and people couldn't get out?

You really should just stick to the name calling Rex. It doesn't bother me but I suspect it makes you feel better.

Pull your head out of your boyfriends ass and try to comprehend what I'm saying. Bsams got out when he knew to get out. The people in new orleans didn't. That makes him a better person. The people in new orleans are the scum of society. That is a fact. That is something you are afraid to acknowledge.

MEM still thinks I'm the only person here. He has completely ignored the stories of the 150,00 thousand or so that are in danger or those that have died. Instead he's like to focus on the idiots that stayed in New Orleans with a hurricane beating down their necks.

Also he conveniently forgot the people in New Orleans were ordered out before the hurricane and told if they stayed it could be awhile to get to them, they refused to leave. That has been edited out of the post Katrina debate.

You said the difference between this ice storm and Katrina is I got out, there are 100 of thousands of other people as you now recognize again. Since Doc survived Katrina by your logic it isnt a tragedy either.

MEM I note that you've been forced to go from comparing the loss of life to a stubbed toe having to acknowledge it is a serious matter

At least he is finally recognizing the scope of this. Maybe the DNC has decided this ice storm is serious.

They must have found a black person in Appalachia, then. Or a gay person. Or the ultimate liberal special interest: a gay, black person.

Not according to BSAMS. Maybe you guys should sort of get together and coordinate what your saying. Or better yet create your own liberal alt that you can have spout the things for you to argue with.

My stub the toe remark via Katrina 3 was me mocking bsams & his Katrina 2 thread. Just for the record, I don't think bsams a bad guy but I thought his comparison to Katrina was wrong. Either on the personal level from his initial post or when it's expanded to generally compare the two storms. Katrina was simply much bigger and deadlier.

Maybe you should try to make some kind of coherent sense so you don't contradict yourself every other post.

look, the reason MEM is saying katrina was worse is the loss of poor black and homosexual life, which is a huge loss for the democrat party and thus damaging to their elections. the ice storm killed a bunch of white folk, thus high resource users. so their death is actually good for the environment! and honestly, this storm was probably a farewell "fuck you" from the bush administration anyway. so I think we can now understand when MEM says their deaths are the equivalent of him stubbing a toe.

My second eldest son has been away all this week and most of last week with his reserve unit checking homes one by one all over Kentucky. The ice storm certainly was a deadly one.
