In addition, I think she made it a point to hide from the Others and, prior to the Oceanic crash, I believe that Ben generally only sent his minions out to the areas she frequented.

They also weren't going to have Ben as a main character. After a couple of episodes they realized he should be the leader of the others.

in desmond's first "time travel" incident, desmond tells elloise that he's going to spend his life together with penny.

she replies, "no, you're not"

she goes on to tell him that it might not be what he chooses, but rather what his path is. so, like, a pre-determined fate. which, if that is what's steering the show, could be why some people are seemingly unable to die (richard alpert, eye patch guy, locke, ben, michael, etc). and maybe even something like the smoke monster exists just to make sure everything lives up to what its fate is sposda be.

But Desmond, being Desmond, COULD change whatever's destined for him, or even what's already happened. He's the wild card.

he's apparently able to alter some things, but (possibly) only temporarily. i.e; saving charlie from dying. eventually, fate found a way to correct itself.

The Hurley and Miles time travel discussion was the best part of this one.

hurley's take on the nuttiness of everything has been great all season. the show clearly mocking itself. very clever.

Not trying to save little Ben is the most interesting thing Jack has done in ages.

So I guess little Ben will still kill all the Dharma fuckers.

I wonder why they felt the need to do that. Ben is a sneaky bastard, if they said he remembers everything I wouldn't be shocked.

That's one of the things I don't get. Guyliner said that Ben would forget everything that happened and won't be able to return to the dharma initiative but in season three he is still with them when he kills his dad and the rest of the "others" kill everyone else. Either guyliner is telling a very convenient lie or they do have the power to change history.


This all makes me think that next season's big thing is going to be multiple time lines.

I took "not able to return" to mean emotionally, he's an "Other", now. He could live with the Dharmas as a spy, but would be basically an "Undercover Other."

And whose to say Richard wasnt lying about Ben's memory?

He didn't say Ben couldn't go back to Dharma, Rich just said he would always truly be an other.

i think one of the points of this is to say if jack had just been a good guy doctor and saved ben, ben wouldn't have grown up to be the creepy, murdering otherphile. i.e; jack's refusal to help is what made ben bad

They all have some responsibility (or at least some way to blame themselves if they're feeling emo). Sayid shot him, Jack didn't operate, Kate and Sawyer took him to the Others, Juliet helped them, Hurley is fat.

In the beginning of the season we saw him as one of the workers in a Dharma excavation near the time wheel.

The episode airing on the 29th of this month is rumored to be a daniel centric episode. Its also said to be a follow up of the constant. Except to find out where he is then.

Ben already wanted to go to the other because his Dad is a cocksucker.
