i've seen a buncha theories on how john locke is actually dead now. they've hinted a few times as such, particularly ben who keeps driving home "dead is dead". even richie guyliner was shocked to see john.
I think he's dead but that Ben's wrong that "dead is dead." I think some people on the island are able to exist as, basically, ghosts: Jacob, Christian and now John being three examples.
