I am not actually being nice to him specifically, as I don't really know him yet, and in fact I think what he did was not particularly nice. What I am doing is trying to see whether it is worth staying here.
If King Snarf turns out to be a gentleman, as his greeting suggests, then I would just put the situation with the married woman, down to a minor lapse. Then again, if I take that 'lapse' as his normal personality, then maybe the reason he is greeting me in such a generous way is that he thinks I am just someone else to hit on. I am willing to give him, and anyone else for that matter, the benefit of the doubt.
