marx loved using snippets of theology to sucker in impressionable Christians. the trick is to say 'this is what Jesus really meant', then as you reel 'em in little by little, gradually whittle away any pesky spirituality that might compromise their loyalty to the Party - errr, your cause. what you're left with is a nice little nominal theology that allows for just enough spirituality to soothe their conscience while guaranteeing they'll be good little soldiers for papa karl.
