Who are "people"? Who mentioned religious persecution in this thread, other than a predicted outcome of such a naive move as to build a mosque on the site of Islam's worst attack on the United States? Would it be okay to build a monument of Japanese history at Pearl Harbor? Should the holocaust be honored by a Nazi movement of racial cleansing?
