^Thus my points. Marvel seems to want to continue their Donkey-Fucker strategy of corralling the Fanboys together in opposition to anyone who is not for the Marvel brand. The business/negotiation aspect was probably perfectly formal. It's the press office, and Feige, who are trying to play this good guy/bad guy game with the media and fans. They know if they can get the fanbase to oppose Norton, and paint him as the bad guy, then they don't have to worry about possible viewers blaming Marvel or finding fault with their (second) replacement thus far.
In the end, it all boils down to your point: Be a professional. Only children and the lesser educated enjoy playground mudslinging...

Actually, the Incredible Hulk pulled the same stunt Punisher: War Zone did by giving the main character a different origin but doing so in flashbacks and/or dialogue rather than fully exploring them.

Nowhere in the film does it mention his origin. Wrong. The opening credits as well as dialogue by Gen. Ross show that Bruce is working directly under Ross, though unaware of what the project is really for, instead of working on a project that gains the interest of the military and having Talbot come in an attempt to take it over as the first movie showed. Also, the project took place at a university in Virginia instead of on the San Fransisco area.

I was reading THIS article on the LATimes, and I saw the following in the comment section, directly addressed to Ed Norton:
Ed, Louis Letterrier was the director of "The Incredible Hulk". There were also writers, directors of photography and special effects teams. As the lead actor in the film, you played a key part in the production, BUT you were not the director or the screenwriter. There were dozens of other well-known actors who also could have shined in that role. What you did was let your galaxy-sized ego hijack the production. You insisted on re-writing almost every line of dialogue, making it different but not necessarily better, and you told the director how to direct your scenes. You're a smart guy, Ed, and a gifted actor. But your out-sized opinion of yourself and your importance would derail any ensemble film you were cast in. Simply put, casting you as the Hulk in the new Avengers film would have been a formula for disaster and ensured a painful and frustrating experience for everybody else involved in the production, including the other actors. Your past behavior on other sets is the reason you lost this part and I think that members of the crew who will work on Avengers are grateful that Feige and Marvel had the courage to drop you from the film.
