seriously though, is this board broken enough to need an upgrade? why fix something that's not broken.
I've been a poster in the kind of forums that use the examples you mentioned. I prefer what we have now. Or if I had to choose, phbb is the most userfriendly.
it's not broken, but it is largely taped together. there are some lovely features and points about this one that i'd certainly not want to remove/replace, but at some point that will have to happen, regardless.
of the potential newer features;
- significant speed boost - a search feature people don't cry over - user-customizable skins (so, like, you can make the boards blue if that's easier to read, or giant if you're sneaky bunny, or optimized for blackberry/iphone use) - less pariah
