It's official: "Napoleon Dynamite" is coming to TV.

Fox is giving a series order to a project based on the indie hit, one of two new teen-friendly animated projects greenlighted by the network.

Fox has picked up six episodes of the show, with the original cast on board as voice talent -- including Jon Heder as the title character. The network also ordered seven episodes of another show, "Allen Gregory," from "Superbad" star Jonah Hill and "Yes Man" scribes Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul.

"Gregory" is about the world’s most celebrated seven-year-old embarking on the greatest challenge of his life: attending elementary school with regular kids.

With "Dynamite," the comedy follows the misadventures of an awkward high school teenager and his quirky friends as they struggle to navigate life in rural Idaho.

Both projects are produced by 20th Century Fox TV, with Chernin Entertainment also producing "Gregory." Jared Hess, Jerusha Hess, and "Simpsons" veteran Mike Scully are writing and executive producing "Dynamite." Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope added as executive producers on "Gregory."

Looking at the art, and given the general environment in which "Napoleon" was set, I'm just wondering why Fox bothered to cancel "King of the Hill."

Yeah.

if the entire cast is appearing wouldn't it be cheaper and more effective to go live action? it's not like there are special effects or exotic locations.

What I have seen of Napolean Dynamite has never made me want to watch it.
Plus, people told me that if I hated Hot Rod (which I fucking did), then I shouldnt even bother with Dynamite. For once I listened!

I don't know if that's the case anymore, given how cheap computer animation has become. Look at, for example, how quickly they can crank out a "South Park" days after some current event they want to satirize.

Same here, I didn't like Nacho Libre so I wasn't gonna bother, but then I did and liked it.

Nacho Libre was so disappointing. I should have loved it. It looked like it had all the elements to be hilarious. I tried 3 times to get through it and couldnt.

I think the thing that makes Napoleon Dynamite funny is the fact that I knew that guy in high school. I think most people who liked it knew a guy like that in school.

I can't believe the girl on the far right is only wearing tints and shades of purple. That is so wrong.

Adweek: Beginning Jan. 15, new series Napoleon Dynamite will replace Allen Gregory in the 8:30 p.m. time slot. Fox placed an order for 13 episodes of the comedy, which is voiced by the original cast of the 2004 theatrical.

I watched a few episodes. Basically, they took the movie and turned it into a 'King of the Hill' rip off
