Den of GeekFinally, some of the answers as to the make-up of Christopher Nolan's upcoming third Batman film are slotting into place.
In a new interview over at Hero Complex, Nolan has firstly confirmed what the name of the new film will be. So be gone, Batman 3, and instead get ready for The Dark Knight Rises.
Nolan also said of the new film that "We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones."
He also, as part of the interview, however, eliminated The Riddler as the villain of the film. The Riddler has been widely expected to be his choice, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt strongly linked with the role. But Nolan seems to have other ideas, and he's incidentally also ruled out Mr Freeze. Although few people thought Mr Freeze would be top choice.
Gloriously, the film will not be released in 3D, either. Just thought we'd mention that.
So, does this leave Catwoman as the running favourite for The Dark Knight Rises? As we reported earlier today, Nolan is hunting for a female lead for his film. And maybe, with The Riddler out of the picture, Catwoman is to be the villain of choice...

So, any guesses on who the villain will be? We now have confirmation that it won't be Freeze or Riddler. Catwoman is an obvious choice. However, I'm not sure he'll go that route. My top two guesses are Mad Hatter or--seriously--Hugo Strange. Nolan could make it work. As for minor villains, I'd like to see Bats fighting Firefly in the opening. What ideas do you guys have?

What if Tom Hardy is playing Deadshot, who was hired by Talia Al Ghul to kill Batman? Then, Batman fucks her with Bat-Sperm and kicks Deadshot's ass. Bat-Baby born nine months later.
Then, Batman runs off into the night, Comm. Gordon's voice overlaying: "He's not the hero we need, or deserve.....he's the hero of THE NIGHT because we need but don't deserve him. Man-Bat is a good idea. I liked him in BTAS.
I think it might also be Hush. So far the films have been loosely based on The Bat-Man classics: BB is Year One, DK is Killing Joke and The Long Halloween. What's next? Apparently Hush isn't that good (never read it), but it's still an important storyline. I doubt they'll go with crossovers like Knightsend or No Man's Land; it's gotta be something self-contained that Nolan can read as a "graphic novel" on the airport without being embarassed.
Whatever storyline they go with, I bet the movie will take at least a couple of plot points from DKR.
