Oops! Detective forgets gun during restroom stop
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon State Police detective lost her handgun during a restroom stop at a hospital in Portland.
The Oregonian reports she was following up on an investigation Wednesday and didn't realize she had forgotten the weapon until after she left Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center.
Police and hospital security searched for the gun, questioning staffers and visitors, but no luck.
Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings says the Glock Model 22 semiautomatic in a holster is listed as lost or stolen in Oregon's Law Enforcement Data System.
Hastings says the detective is extremely disappointed.
I don't know if I would have picked the gun up. You couldn't resell it to a legitimate source and I wouldn't want to be caught with it.
