Something I didn't pick up before is that Common alleges Chesimard's innocence, and then simultaneously defends her as a "soldier" "fighting for [his] freedom."

That would indicate that common does believe she's innocent of the crime, but simply agrees with her cause and thinks that should acquit her from punishment.

Stewart is clearly bristling with emotion throughout the interview, and at best comes up with equivalency arguments that circumnavigate that Obama knows these cop killers are guilty, Stewart knows these cop killers are guilty, and Common himself (though clouded in evasive language) knows these cop killers are guilty, and Common therefore has no business being at the White House.

I also love the point where Stewart boils over (at 5:55) and just goes into a sweeping rant about Fox News. With nothing to back it up, of course, beyond pure emotion.
