Dude, I've had similar oral surgeries. So, yeah, stick with the Vicodin. You will need them!
As for the buzz differences: Vicodin and those kind of pills make people "not care" about anything or it gives them a slight feeling of euphoria. Mostly both at the same time.
Weed, if it's good weed, will have the same effect, but a little more concentrated. However, it's a far more "cerebral" buzz than anything. It can really fire up the imagination sometimes, and sort of presents a blanket of focus for the mind. And, if you're new to it, it makes you a giggling hungry idiot for an hour.
