"Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz announced today that the show will be coming back to television -- five years after it was cancelled.
Hurwitz said the show will do a "limited" season which will show us what the characters have been up to since the show last aired ... which will then lead right into the planned movie.
There is no official deal in place yet for where or when the show will air.
Have a frozen banana and celebrate!

The IMDB page says they're ten main characters but it includes Ron Howard as the narrator. He is directing the movie in the show so maybe he gets his own episode?

Netflix just announced that they have the rights to the new Arrested Development episodes.

i actually think that's the best spot for them.
the show performed, and was advertised, poorly as a primetime comedy via fox, so most people missed it the first time around. its really thanks to netflix (and hulu and intrawebs and word of mouth) that it gained the huge following that it has now.
it likely could get big numbers if it came back to regular tv at this point, but seems like a much better fit to stick with netflix.
i wonder if this means no censors and/or no commercial spots...?

No commercials spots, they'll be using this show to get people to subscribe to their service. As for censoring I doubt it. There's been some odd censoring on Netflix before, beeping out swearing in Breaking Bad, but they know that these will air on netflix so they shouldn't have any kind of censoring problems.

They'll probably keep the beeps anyway though, because according to the DVD commentary they kinda liked it. It's part of the style.
It would be awesome if this was streamed on my version of Netflix at the same time as the US, though I doubt it. Torrents it is then.
