Genesis live bootleg from 1976. They're about to start "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway."

It's amazing how Peter Gabriel made that band cool. Then Phil Collins made it...... well, I think we all know what Phil Collins did to Genesis.

What's interesting is that what Phil Collins wrought on Genesis may be more due to guitarist Steve Hackett's departure in 1977 than Gabriel's leaving in '75.
Sadly, once Genesis started having a few hit singles with Phil on vocals, they really changed their course. Their 80s albums only have a few nods here and there to progressive rock.
But the first couple of albums they did with Phil on vocals after Peter left were still pretty darned good. This boot I'm spinning is from the first tour they did after Peter left.

XM Radio. I just listened to Jerry Cantrell's "My Song", Eric B. and Rakim's "Microphone Fiend", and a truckload of unedited stand-up comedy. Few commercials, no asinine DJs (these people generally just get to the point and don't try to be "wacky" or "zany"), and stuff that I wouldn't hear unless I ripped a CD from my mp3 collection.

Jigsaw Puzzle - The Rolling Stones
This song has always annoyed me. It's a really great album track and the third verse brings the lyrics full circle. But then there's another verse where Jagger attempts a Dylanesque allegorical stream of consciousness, only you can tell what he's singing is completely void of any meaning and it drags the whole song down.
