I liked a lot of the Superman Death and Return stories. There were some really good ideas in there, though I think some were handled badly (like Steel. The weighed him down with crap right out of the box). Can anyone say Super-Mullet? But, honestly, I don't think there was anyone who didn't know that he was coming back.

Hal shoulda stayed as Parallax. But they fucked that up so he shoulda stayed dead. But they fucked that up. You'll never see me say that he shoulda stayed the Specter. Tha's jus' stoopid. Since they are bringing him back, he shouldn't be a Lantern anymore; but they're gonna fuck that up too.

Colossus was easily my second favorite X-Man. That being said, he shoulda kept dead. His death was important and honorable. With him being back with apparently no recognition of the fact that he was dead to begin with or any explination as to how (didn't they cremate the corpse and scatter it over his Mother Russia?), it detatches all the empathy I had built up for the character.

Ollie coming back was handled very entertainingly since Kevin Smith really isn't a deep, philosophical writer. Plus, I like how he's been handled post resurrection. He seems to be the voice of reason as far as noting that the rules of his universe are fucked and twisted.

Hawkman is another character that was done well when he was brought back. A lot of the bullshit was cleared away early on to allow for other, interesting stories to take place.

So, overall, my view on character resurrections has to do with the fact that they need to be few and far between and also be well written and capable of progressing a character's development further than what it had been before.
