February 06, 2003 - 4Filmmakers reports that Canadian actor Victor Webster has been cast in Warner Brothers' forthcoming Superman film. The part that the thesp seems ideal for would be the title role. Webster, who turns 30 years old this week, is best known for his starring role in the syndicated TV series, Mutant X. The IMDb claims that Webster was born "Kevin Christopher Andrés" and stands 6'3". When IGN FilmForce contacted Webster's representatives at the Agency for the Performing Arts, they absolutely refused to comment on the matter and promptly hung up on us. Plus, representatives for director Brett Ratner never replied to our inquiry. Hmmm...

By the way, if Webster does indeed prove to be our new Superman then this will be the second major casting coup for 4Filmmakers. Their first was the casting of Hayden Christensen as the adult Anakin Skywalker in the latter two Star Wars prequels.

According to the official Mutant X site, the Calgary-born thesp has worked as a model, "earned his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and has an undefeated record as an amateur kickboxer." Webster's other TV credits include Days of Our Lives, Sunset Beach, The Lot and the telepic The Chippendale Murders. He has also appeared in such films as Wishmaster 4: The Prophecy Fulfilled and the upcoming comedy Bringing Down the House. By the way, Webster's Mutant X co-star John Shea portrayed Lex Luthor on the series Lois & Clark.

Ironically, the previous big-screen Man of Steel, Christopher Reeve, also got his start on soap operas before being cast in Superman.

A fansite chock full of pics of Webster can be found here. An especially embarrassing collection of photos can be found here. We've posted a few of the LEAST suggestive shots below. I can just hear all the "faster than a speeding bullet" and "up, up and away" jokes now.
