Ok, I guess alot of people may want to list their favorite title or run of all time rather than their favorite current books. so if that's the case then tell us what you think. What is your favorite title or run of all time? There has been lots of great stuff out there, and this might give some people migranes. Go ahead and rant, and please explain why. What joy, memories, emotions do those books give you. Why should anyone else care? Let us know so we might be induced to buy it ourselves and share in a similar experience...

Preacher.
Action packed. Laugh-out-loud funny. With a dramatic story about religion and redemption at it's core. Plus a touching and tragic love story, and the trials of it's three main characters. Some of the darkest black comedy you're likely to find. And Steve Dillon's great art.
It's a shame that a lot of people can't get past the violence and swearing to see all that stuff within.

I was between Gaiman's Sandman and Moore's Swampy, but I'm going with Sandman. I think Moore has better moments, but Gaiman is a lot more consistent. Besides, the psychological developement of Morpheus in Sandman is as complex as it gets in comics. The story has many levels and a lot of stuff hidden in plain sight, so it's always cool to read it again and find something new.

Superman's Girlfriend: Lois Lane That series embodies everything that was fun, freaky and weird about the silver and early bronze ages. It has absolutely fantastic art all the way to atleast 115. Kurt Schaffenberger is my favorite artist so that should say a little. Swan also did some art on the series. But man is that a fun title. My only problem is that I'm still missing most of the first 40 issues. Which I've heard are actually some of the better ones. So mainly I'm just talking about the last 80 issues or so.... Lois Lane definitely embodies every aspect of Superman's most glorious and whacky period...Always gives me a smile and a chuckle. Hee Hee.. [ 03-27-2003, 12:42 PM: Message edited by: Pig Iron ]

batman / gotham adventures (currently in the midst of a title switch)
if you're willing to consider the various (6?) incarnations of this book over the past decade as one run (they're all essentially the same, without inbetween "downtime"), then i can boldly say this is the best title i've read since my comic book addiction.
it is consistantly and reliably excellent. the art and style are top notch, and the stories are always entertaining, and typically contained in a single issue.
i've gone through periods of time where i liked other books more -- jla, batman, detective, etc. however, the average score of this book over the past 10 years is leaps and bounds over, say, detective's average rank.
sadly, many pass on this book. tho everyone is always quick to defend the cartoon from being "childish," the same argument is rarely used in defense of its comic book counterpart. i assure you, the comic is just as true to the characters and stories as the animated series is/was.
its simply an amazing read.

Adventures is the only Bat title I own almost all of. I'm only missing the first 5 of the very first series. Consistently the best series out there. And I love how every issue is self contained. God I miss that. It is surprising how it's hardly ever on my top 10 list though...go figure.

Sandman.... I just absolutely love it. A great series.
Rob - I enjoy the animated issues as well, but none of my local shops carry it. I'll probably add the new BATMAN ADVENTURES to my pull list if the FCBD edition is good. (sounds like it will be)

For what, the animated TV show? They already have released one collection with the first 5 or so episodes, and a second comes out next month.

Watchmen doesn't count, Dave! It's a mini, not a run. If minis counted too I'd choose Watchmen over Sandman. As I said before, Moore has better moments, I think Watchmen and From Hell are better than Sandman, but I doubt he would be able to mantain that level of quality for 75 issues like Gaiman did.

Kingdom Come. Still my favorite series of all time.
The first 8 issues of Rising Stars, however, runs a close second. [ 04-13-2003, 11:09 AM: Message edited by: AGW ]

Ellis's Authority and Planetary.
Morrison's Animal Man and Doom Patrol.
Just about anything Moore's written.
I suppose the first Astro City series doesn't count, since it was just a 5 issue mini.

Has Moore ever done a long run on a comic?

46 issues in Swamp Thing. I know he wrote Supreme and Wildcats, but I don't know how much he lasted there.

My favorite comic runs are as follows:
1) Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth Why? I love Kirby and I like the concept of this series. Anything with intelligent talking two-legged animals (especially Gorilla's) just interest me. Yes, I have the full run.
2) Tomb of Dracula This is the first and only comic to scare the hell out of me. I remember having issues 25 - ??? in the mid 80's and throwing them away, because I thought the devil would come get me. Currently have #60 - #70 in my collection. Hope to get the complete run soon.
3) New Teen Titans This series really peaked my interest from #13 and up. We had the return of Robotman from the original Doom Patrol, and then Brother Blood. Then we had (to date) the best space opera in the history of comics. It was the Omega Men and the New Teen Titans against Psion's and the other aliens (forgot them). Then we had the ultimate traitor storyline - the Judas Contract. I have the whole run. I also have the baxter series up to #115
4) Uncanny X-Men (X-Men)
I enjoyed this series from #129 - #167
What Can I say? YTou had the Hellfire Club, the Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, the second best Space Opera (X-Men VS. the Brood) I have this series from #143 - #181

Uncanny was pretty good from #175 to say the Mutant Massacre too. Storm loses her powers, Rachel Summers pops up with the dramatic showdown with Wolverine. We have the Asgard Wars, Longshot, the awesome annual with Horde, Rogue's personality problems.... to me that run was one of the better ones on 70s-90s X-men.

Spyaxe (Thats cool you liked Tomb of Dracula by the way) reminded me of a book I'm going to have to put in there. Charlton comics came out with a run of horror mags in the 70's. I really liked the one called Ghost Manor. You had a really cool undertaker named Mr. Bones guiding you through cheesy horror with Steve Ditko art to boot.
Also (I can't believe I left this one out) Very early Vallient books were great. Pretty much everything pre Unity and just after was amazing. (Magnus, Solar, Eternal Warrior)

1) Ostrander's SUICIDE SQUAD 2) Ennis' PREACHER 3) Moore's SUPREME 4) Robinson's STARMAN 5) Los Bros LOVE & ROCKETS 6) Bagge's HATE 7) Sim's CEREBUS 8) Starlin's WARLOCK 9) John's HOURMAN 10) Blackburn's KNIGHTS OF THE DINNER TABLE
Hm, Comics is good... Don't let anyone tell you otherwise...

At a flea market today, I lucked out and got a complete set of the best Marvel comic ever made. Everyone I know who read it, had their lives changed for the better, with the best art and stories Marvel (or any other comic company) put out for sixty years. It was so good, they had to cancel it for fear that it's power would sweep the nation, and yes the world. My own personal set was stolen by unidentified government operatives to prevent me from continuing to laud it's praises to the world at large, which would eventually have destabilized the major governments of the world.
And that comic was ... Defenders of Dynatron City.
Chin chin.
