Animalman, all kidding aside, if there are extraterrestrial societies, and if the extraterrestrials who make up these societies are biological entities with something like DNA, and if the law of survival of the fittest governs the transfer of this genetic information, I think stratification and belligerence are pretty much guaranteed traits.
