Keith Giffen and J.M. Dematteis on JLI/JLE? Chris Claremont on Uncanny X-Men/Excalibur? Gerard Jones on JLI/JLE?

Disco wins!
But yeah, Annie, I agree that Morrison would be unlikely to do two GL books. Unless one was GL and one was Green Lantern Corps, perhaps.

I didn't say nobody did. I said I don't see why anybody would. JLI/JLE doesn't really count, because, as you point out, there are two different writers.
Your other examples only further convince me that writing two books on the same franchise at once is crazy. Infact, you could argue that it destroyed Claremont's career, at least, critically.

Both featuring G'Nort.

Maybe G'nort could return in Hal Jordan's body, and vice versa!

Curious: How does JLI/JLE not count because there are two writers? Both Giffen and Dematteis worked on both JL books at the same time.
And how did it destroy Claremont's career? I'd like to find out what the breaking point was for him.
Personally, I see about as much reason (aside from the almighty dollar) for more than one GL book as I see for more than one Punisher book. How could it possibly be any different?
At least with team books you can focus on different characters.

Only G'Nort can save DC Comics.

I don't think it's the same because the same amount of responsibility and commitment doesn't fall on the writer. On a creative sense it's not as demanding, either.
There's also the fact that, as you point out, you can use different characters with a team book. Unlike X-Men, JLA doesn't really have a fixed roster. You can bring in just about anyone you like.

Towards the late 80s he started to become bogged down by taking on so many books. Soon he was writing so much he had to reuse old ideas. Again....and again. By the mid 90s it had all become such a horrifically convoluted mess that it destroyed his image and reputation as a premiere writer. Nowadays, people don't associate the classic Silver Age X-Men with Claremont, they associate the awful X-Treme X-Men with him. His books still sell well because he's a big name, but his "legacy" has certainly been tarnished(as much as I hate saying that).

You mean Born?
I don't see that as much another Punisher book as I do sort of a....I dunno....I guess a quasi-Elseworlds book? I know it's suppose to have some affect on continuity, like Origin and 1602, but it really doesn't have anything to do with the regular character.
When I say I don't see why a creator would do two books in the same franchise at the same time, I mean like JMS writing both Amazing Spiderman and Peter Parker: Spiderman, or Joe Kelly writing both Action Comics and Adventures of Superman, or Ed Brubaker both Detective Comics and Batman.

Yeah, and it'd be like, next morning he wakes up with a giant hangover and says:"What have I done, I'm nothing but a pathetic unoriginal rip-off, that talks and acts exactly like Spiderman in those Marvel Comics!". Pantsy that he is, he'd probably even quit drinking alltogether. Fat good he did for sales too!
