My all time classic WTF? comes from a Batman Xmas story. Jim Aparo did the art.
Batman is driving along in the Batmobile, and sees a kid run out onto the road in front of a truck. A guy is dressed in a Santa Claus suit nearby. He stretches his arms, and saves the kid. Batman runs up and de-beards him - its Plastic Man. Turns out Plas has fallen on hard times, and is out on the street begging for change.
So what does Batman do? He throws some small change into Plastic Man's collection pot. He then drives off. "Poor Plas," Batman thinks.
Even as a 12 year old, I was horrified: Batman is a millionaire, and can't afford more than some chump change for a fellow hero who is rboke and begging? I remember thinking, "Batman, you are a stingy cunt."
