guys i hope someone knows the answer to this, but going back through my great big collection of batman comics i realized that there is no more word balloons on the covers, u know the tease covers like batman#398 (1986) which was the last one to feature one had batman fighting two-face and he tells catwoman "help me catwomen before two face burns me alive" and she says "sorry sport you are on your own" now we get covers without that, and its sad cause they made comics fun, its not just dc...its marvel as well.
what was the decision change that?????? [no no no]

What made them decide that? Artists for covers who had sizable egos, I'd suspect. They don't want their work obscured by mere words.

Okay, that's harsh. I also suspect that more of a motive is to have comics not appear as a "juvenile" medium, where emotions are worn on the figurative sleeve of the characters. We're too old a readership to put up with that ... or think we are.

Once in a blue moon......you'll see a balloon on a cover. It does happen ......just not very often. [whaaaa!]
