Best Superman fights?
1. Superman vs. Turmoil (Action #643)
2. every single battle sequence in "The Brainiac Trilogy (Action #647-649)
3. Superman vs. Captain Marvel (Kingdom Come)
4. Superman vs. Brainiac and his cyber-drones (superman Adventures #3)
5. Superman vs. Team Luthor (the grand finale of "The Battle For Metropolis", as scripted by Kesel and Stern--the last genuinely good Superman moment for years to come before the crapstorm settled in)
6. Superman vs. Aquaman and company (Superman #162-163--Loeb's finest hour)
7. Superman vs. the Elite (Action #775)
8. Superman vs. the Royal Flush Gang (Superman: The Man of Steel #123--the last good Superman battle, period; everything after that has sucked)
That's about it, really.

This is the one which got the attention - I didn't read it, but I heard Supes really had to open up with his powers.

Oh, that's for sure.

I have lots. Some fairly recent favs of mine are the Superman-Parasite fight from Superman #156-157. I was always a fan of the Parasite, and he seemed more menacing in that fight than he has been portrayed in recent years, so that was really good to see.
Another fave of mine is the Superman-General fight from JLA #36-41. The World War Three arc. The General's got guns blazing, bullets bouncing off Superman, Superman cuts off his arm with his heat vision, ...it was just an awesome fight.

Those were good fights. I like any Supes/Lobo fight. I realy liked the man of stel issue which featured a Supes/Lobo fight and the comic had movable characters on the cover.

Nice line (too bad people don't actually explode in the vacuum of space).

For Me It has to be the Animated Superman series where he fought BITH Live Wire and The Parasite at the same time. Now that was intense!

Superman vs. Mongul The Merciless in DC COMICS PRESENTS #35-- "Whatever Happened To Starman?" A couple of years before the CRISIS, few writers could handle the almost god-like powerful Superman as well as JIM STARLIN! It was a real knock-down-drag-out. (Never mind the Post-CRISIS version of Mongul-- Starlin's the guy who CREATED him!)

Superman vs Doomsday (the first 3 times, Rex was a lame fight). The fight with Cyborg in Engine City. The fight with Imperiex (way before OW@W)

I liked the fight with Imperiex in Superman 172. They fought in the middle of a wrecked Kansas..and technically, I guess it was an Imperiex probe, but still a good fight.

Yeah, it was a probe he fought.
The bizarre part was, he just kept assuming there was only one Imperiex, despite being told in the Man of Steel issue that he was wrong about him. And in the JLA issue, he claimed "But there was only one!" when another probe made mincemeat of the JLA. Not exactly the sharpest pencil around, was he?

The fight with Metallo in Superman #1. The fight with Mongul in Annual #11 of the first series. The first Doomsday fight.

I liked seeing Superman fight the Aliens with only a fraction of his powers.

One of my favs was the pre-crisis Superman vs Mongul fight in a DC Presents (I forget the #). Mongul was stronger than Superman and they both knew it, but SM just kept swinging, and when the fight was over, Mongul was kissing dirt.

Reset
The fight between Superman and "Zod" in For Tomorrow was decent. The rest was a crapfest.

How many Post Crisis (Non-Kryptonian Zod's) are there now? As with Supergirl, it's going to make the inevitable Kryptonian one seem anticlimactic.....
