There's a nice article about Batista being promoted to permanent artist over at the Pulse, but be warned, there are three pages of preview art (colored and with dialogue). These pages are BIG BIG BIG spoilers for the Dream Crime story. Look at them at your own risk. I looked at the first one without really thinking about it. Then I couldn't help myself to look at the other two, and now I wish I hadn't.
There's no spoiler warning anywhere on the article so beware!

Holey Spoilers, Batman! Well, a few things are making more sense now, I guess. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing ![[eh... i dunno... ]](graemlins/ehidunno.gif)

Yeah but how much of what we see is 'real' and not Imra still dreaming? Kind of reverse reverse psychology.
But damn those pencils and colors look good. And I really like Batista's Jo and Tinya so far.

And I really liked his quote about his redesign of Sensor:
"That snake with mechanical arms had to go anyway."
That's bound to win him some fans.

I don't know if this is a clue
Spoilerish speculation ahead....
In the first chapter of Dream Crimes, Tinya's uniform was back to the old style, with the black center extended down to the toes. In the preview, it's reverted to the black panel ending in a "v" mid-torso. What does it mean?

I know one thing... the Pulse needs to be a little more sensitive about spoilers. This makes two interviews in the last week or so that included major spoilers with no warnings whatsoever. That's a good way to piss off your readers (and it has a time or two :) )

True, that does happen. But I really admire Jen's enthusuiasm and PULSE does pretty good work overall.
And though I'm not as sold on his work as some others here, I do want to congratulate Batista on getting the gig full-time.

While I'm disappointed the regular gig didn't go to Steve Lightle (He did give up a chance at a Wildstorm book for us), I enjoy Batista's more brighter, hopefull looking art than the depressing, much too brooding look and feel art we've had over the last few years.
Maybe Steve and Dave Cockrum can alternate on fill issues from now on.
The future looks brighter for the Legion.

I had to be a nosy old biddy and check it out ... as far as spoilers go, I didn't think it was too bad. I mean, we still don't know what really happens - we're just taken to the cliff and left hanging.
Batista's work is bee-yoo-ti-full and I'm glad to read that he's inspired by Cockrum.
It would be a perfect world to have Lightle and Cockrum on board also, somehow - I would like to see them on any book, not just Legion.

With having been around to remember well the original "dream crime" in recent popular culture -- Bobby Ewing stepping out of the shower on "Dallas" -- I find it hard to think that we should believe anything that seems to appear in this series. That is, until the final episode appears.
It's DREAM Crime, after all. Dreams are mutable and do not follow logic. To portray this on the page takes some of the inherent suspense away, after all. You can't expect that one development will unfold from another in a reasonable manner ... not when it's all inside Imra's head.
So the short of it is, I don't see much of what they're posting as being "spoiler"-ish, or very much so. It's subject to being reversed.
=====
I keep hitting "Preview" out of habit, as I do on the new DCMBs primarily to catch what's picked up by the damned autocensor ... but there isn't one here! Oh, how insidious that all is.

Did anyone notice this image below when the article was first posted? S P O I L E R S P A C E B E W A R E Looks like Legion World Academy in full swing to me. And I know I recognize a couple of faces. Kent Shakespeare and Comet Queen are there for sure.

Holy Crap! That has to be the Acadamy. I think I see Polar Boy in there too! And Kent Shakespeare to boot! Huzzah!
Interesting that Wildfire is down with the recruits, since he was close to the Acadamy students pre-boot. XS is down there too? I dig the little hovering dog/fox looking thing at the back. Too bad there's no Skreaks!

I was thinking that was Brek too. And does that look like an Orion (Hunter) in the back to anyone else?

The figure next to Polar Boy(?) with the two pigtails a la the Hunter appears to me to have boobs. But maybe that's just my imagination...
Did anyone read the replies down below the article? It sounded to me like Robin Riggs is going to be inking Batista post-Dream Crime.

No, I thought so too. Maybe this time around Otto had a daughter instead of a son.

I didn't catch that. Caught the mention of Batista's pencils sitting in her studio but it zoomed right over my head. What else has she inked?

Actually, Robin is a guy just like the Bee Gee. His wife Elayne is also in comics, she might be a colorist but I'm not sure. Robin was the inker on Supergirl over whoever was penciller before Ed Benes, I think. They both used to post on the Supergirl board, so maybe we'll have another celebrity guest at the DCMB Legion area.
A female version of the Hunter? I guess Huntress is out as a codename.

Could the big tall guy be a Robotican trainee?
I really like the idea of Wildfire and XS as taking charge of the Academy!

I thought it might be a Robotican as well. The one that's second from right in the top panel kind of resembles one of the old Green Lantern Corps members... Salaak or something like that. I think it'd be cool to see a few established DC alien species turn up there.

I thought the girl with pig tails was a kwai, it looks like she has a shikari-esque face mask on. There seems to be a girl from gear's planet on the left.
And a proper robotican character! DnA are comic book gods!
Best preview image EVER!

I try to avoid reading spoiler stuff; it ruins the surprises and the excitement I feel when reading the actual story. But I have to know, does it mention anything about a Legion Academy?
