Huge tits? How unusual! We have a pair here who have moved into the birdhouse in the willow tree, but they're just normal size.

"The sexes are alike and most of the species are of small size. Some have crests and nearly all travel in mixed flocks outside the breeding season." - from The Audobon Society Field Guide to North American Birds

Take that, Ornitho.

I am gay, and I do nOT use these boards to meet other gay men. ( though from time to time I do post my site URL in these forums. )

I don't just discuss gay topics. I am aware of a wide Variety of topics that I enjoy discussing.

Science, History, Comics, 1/18 die cast cars, Science fiction, my 4 Siamese cats, spirituality, and other things.

I've posted in many of the active topics here, not just the Legion, but the Legion is my favorite, it is the very FIRST comic book I ever read ( Almost 40 years ) and I have a deep love for the Legion.

I like Superman a lot, but am most fond of his adventures on tv --- i.e., Lois and Clark, Smallville, The New adventures of Batman & Superman. These have all been excellent.

I see nothing wrong with Gay topics here. Heterosexuals have a support system going for them all throughout their lives. Gay men do not. We live lives of quiet desperation. We are harrassed verbally, beaten up and tormented physically and emotionally just because we are what we are.

Gangs of young heterosexuals attack lone gay men. [sad]

How often do we hear about young heterosexuals being beaten by gangs of young gay men?

Zilch.

Too often, it is the fear of actually being gay, the fear of the unknown, or the fear of not being part of the group that causes these incidents.

I get bitter on THIS particular topic because I myself have been the victim of such attacks, and there is nothing flaming about me.

So, yes, any here who are weary of all the Gay topics here, please DO avoid those topics, and please DO post at topics you feel comfortable with. :)

And that's the way it is on Sunday, June 8, 2003.

Lab-genitor, I understand where you're coming from. Not only am I straight, but I also have a conservative upbringing. I was initially uncomfortable with the "gayness" of this group. But, I concluded that it was just their version of the locker-room talk that the straight kids did. The only thing I know to do is tune out the uncomfortable topics, and post on the topics I find interesting, and start my own when I can think of something interesting.

I think it's important to remember that many of the posters here have become friends over the years. As such, there is a level of comfortability (is that even a word?) that encourages us to speak candidly and to joke around, even though sometimes others don't necessarily understand the humor (at least not at first).

We laugh, we joke, we flirt, and all of which we do without regard to sexuality. Straight people flirt with gay people... gay people joke with straight people... really no harm is intended or, I think, done.

Keep in mind too that this board is new to many of us, and perhaps the lack of rules has encouraged us to be a little less... restrictive... than we might normally be elsewhere. I think that will change a tiny bit as the newness wears off a bit.

And lastly, take a look around at some of the posts on the rest of Rob's boards. Gay talk (much of it meant to be harmless slams against people, I think) was a way of life around these parts long before we came along. And even more bizarre is the fact that I almost think we're the tame ones around here [wink]

My belief is the lesbianism is the only rational way of life. I mean... what would anyone want to have sex with a guy? I just don't get it.

Cru, Lab, EDE--

You all make excellent points.

Sometimes I wish *I* were a lesbian.

If I were, I'd want to look just like LEDA on Queer as Folk. *DAMN!!!* she's hot!

Well, it certainly drew attention, Lab, but you could learn a bit of tact from Greybird. [wink]

I posted a thread not long ago called "Yer NON-GAY Legion Topic" just to give us heteros equal time. But there didn't seem to be much interest in it.

As others have said, the reason for the gay topics is partly because there just isn't a lot of Legion stuff to talk about at the moment. If someone wants to start a Legion-related discussion that has nothing to do with hetero- or homosexuality, I'm all for it. But I'm tapped out.

The plus side to all of this is we can freely diverge into any off-topic consideration we want. I don't object to the gay topics and, so far, nobody has objected to my occasional references to my non-comics obsession, Jefferson Airplane, which brings me to ...

JA Trivia Moment #2: Jefferson Starship guitarist Paul Kantner was convinced that one member of his road crew was gay because he dressed in drag as a joke. No straight man would ever do that, said Paul.

Shortly thereafter, the same drag-dresser married Paul's ex, Grace Slick.

4 Siamese cats! You lucky dog! Are they named after Jefferson Airplane?

I think the next additions to my menagerie will be Klordny and Frunt.

That's a scary image.

I presume some people would like to be dripping with gayness, all hot ans sweaty and gooey with it...

Personally though, I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body.

My cock is quite fine where it is at this time. However, I would like to take it out for a walk occasionally, let it get some air, meet a new pussy friend or two... you know, the usual.

Okay, I just want to point out that your fantasy lesbians are only in HUSTLER and your porno collection-- they're hot straight women PAID to dyke it up for your entertainment. The last thing real lesbians want is you or me, all fantasies aside. Capice?

He's right, you know.

That's why I've always said... lesbians are great in theory, but bisexual chicks are best in practice.

It has come to my attention that some posters here are under the mistaken impression that I, Señor Widebottom, am a homosexual.

I would like to state clearly:

In summary (and directly addressing the titular sorta-question):what the hell it is with the people on this board is that we still joke around (OK, sometimes in the "taking the piss" manner, thanks UK for that phrase) with those who might be seen as trollish on other boards.

I am not sure if this is really relevant to this topic, but on the subject of English expressions we have a local one up here which can cause a few raised eyebrows when said outside the confines of the local pit communities. Basically when a Geordie (someone form Newcastle my home town) is feeling particularly pooped out after a long day down the pit he says

“well I’m absolutely buggered” [whaaaa!]

Now not having travelled much in my youth, you can imagine the reaction I got on my first trip to London when I came out with that phrase in response to a question about the train journey down [um.... uh huh! ... ] [DOH!] [um.... uh huh! ... ]

Hey, Faraway Lad, I grew up in the US and I didn't "get" it until a few years ago either. I think I equated "bugger" (as a noun, like 'that little bugger') with BUG as in PEST. And for something like "Well I'll be buggered" I just took it for an exclamation of surprise. (Which it is, but still.) Interesting what words can convey even when the exact/literal meaning(s) in unknown or idiosyncratically interpreted.

Next up in linguistics class: "over a barrel"
