Hey Bevis,

I just saw the British National Comic Awards results and saw that your Comic came 2nd in the Best Online Strip category. Well done mate.

Yay! I know, good innit? We also came fifth or sixth in the Best Indy catagory (I forget which but I was *very* drunk at the time). Kinda a good thing we didn't win since both Alistair and I were so completely trolleyed by the time the awards came around that we wouldn't have made much sense.

Also we sold out completely of Oddcases and Queen of Diamonds #1 and #2 which was very pleasing. Couple of big names picked up copies (Jeff thingy wot writes Bone got the last complete set) and Shelley Bond was interested as well, but got distracted by her father-in-law dagnabbit so I didn't get to speak to her all that long. I didn't know who she was until after she'd gone which is probably a good thing because when she asked me to tell her what QoD was about and I went into the whole pitch thing (it's Batman if he came to terms with his sexuality, or possibly Black Canary if she were a gay man) if'n I'd known he she was I'd probably have just dried up completely and said something 'it's a comic. I do the drawing on it. And write it. It's very nice. Ummmm...' which i don't think would have made a great impression on her.

Bevis, congratulations. I'm afraid I wasn't aware of your Oddcases strip, but I'll sure check it out today. Trusting Google will turn it up - but could someone in the know might post a link, please?

There are actually three Oddcases stories that aren't up on the web yet. Two were done for the Girly Comic (which was also in the Best Indy catagory. Fourth I think) and so have only been published there so far (in issues #2 and #3) but should be on-line at some point, and then there was a five page piece that's pages from Jani and Clarissa's photo album which we did for Bristol which hasn't gone on-line yet either. We're working towards doing a collected edition (all printed properly and, all going well, distrbuted through Diamond some time next year) which will include all the stuff we've already done plus a new 50 page story which we're working on now which sort of brings the first 'phase' of Oddcases to a close. Oh, and 'Cut' which was in Revolving Hammer, is also part of Oddcases (the new story will show why).

And QoD #2 is finished and should go up at the GLA site in the very near future. And right at the moment I've just finished the pencils for QoD #3 and have started inking it so hopefully that shouldn't be too long either. I'm aiming to get it online at the start of August but i'm not certain of that yet.

And to actually bring this all back to the Legion 9coz this is the Legion board after all) there are actually a couple of Legion references in Oddcases and QoD. In the Oddcases story in the drag bar if you look at the big splash page of the party at the end of the story you can see Dream Girl in there (along with me and Kylie, my hubby and Bette Midler, Marylin Monroe, Nicole Kidman and Lucifer and Mazikeen) and in the second part of QoD #1 the gaunlets that Q is wearing are actually Ultra Boy's. He's got Mon's on on the cover of #3 as well. In #2 though he's wearing Wonder Woman's bracelets. Heh.

And finally a big thank-you to everyone. Especially if any of you actually voted for us in the awards. Next year we want to win, if only so I can go up and give a speech starting with 'I didn't have time to prepare a speech...' and then blub like a girly.

Does seem a bloody long time ago doesn't it? Must be... oooh, at least three years. Maybe three and a half. Mind you it also took me a year to draw the first Oddcases story (the Drag Bar one) and now it takes me about a month to do a regular length story, which is pretty good.
