I've always liked the ones with the quirky powers or the cyphers but for the ones that get more playing time I would pick Star Boy. Effective powers, neat costume & kinda the ordinary guy feel to him. The only thing I didn't care for was the shaggy beard he had preboot. Now in the latest issue he turned into a black hole. Thats got to hurt

My second fav is Ultra Boy. I became a big fan of his during TMK and a lot of those elements have carried over to postboot -- the street-wise former gangmember bad boy thing. I also like the fact that he operates on gut more than intellect, but that's also one of his faults. He can be pretty dense at times.

Funny how this seems harder to answer than "favorite legionnaire".
It's a toss-up between M'onel and Invisible Kid.
M'onel because of his personality, power and potential for great stories, given his history - but I don't think he's being used as well or as much as he could be in Legion stories. Always liked this tortured but noble hero routine.
Invisible Kid - again, personality, which seems pretty upbeat. He's willing to take risks, assume responsibility, he's smart and generally Mr. Nice Guy. He also has lots of story potential in him, with the espionage background. He's not one of the powerhouse members, but he compensates with his intellect. It would be interesting story-wise if the writers did give him a boyfriend but I don't think the character needs that to be interesting. Haven't seen much of him lately, so to speak....

For me it's Brainy who plays second banana for my fav T-Wolf. Why does brainy come only second to Twolf? The excess body hair man!

Mr. Fat Cramer is right about one thing, it is more difficult to pick a second favorite.
At one point I had decided that my favorite Legionnaire was definitely Karate Kid, mostly due to his uniqueness. He was the exception to the super power rule. he got in based solely on his training and skill ... no fancy shmancy super powers needed ... AND he trounced an overconfident Superboy ... that counts for alot.
My second choice seems to fluctuate. At various times I've thought of Wildfire, Timber Wolf, Ferro-Lad, and Mon-El, as favorites.
Sometimes you pick a favorite based on a storyline, characterization, or powers. While other times it's about the potential you think the character has.
Most of my favorites are characters that I think have an incredible amount of untapped potential.

Since Steve brought it up, the characters I'll always be fond of because of their untapped potential almost as much as their actual appearances would be Ferro and Dev-Em.

My second favorite is Lightning Lad/Live Wire/Garth/whatever you call him.
Garth had probably the most visually exciting power of any Legionnaire. Shooting lightning out of your hands -- how can you top that?
But I liked several other things about him:
-- his costume, with its cape and lightning insignia, was very classy;
-- his name started with "G," as does mine. (Hey, I was nine years old when I started reading the Legion; some impressions never die.)
-- he had his share of hard luck and disappointment: losing an arm, losing his life (temporarily), watching his brother turn evil, losing his parents. Garth was someone I could identify with because he never had it easy.
-- he got to marry Saturn Girl. Huzzah, huzzah, huzzah!
There have been many times in which Garth has superceded Mon-El as my favorite Legionnaire. But if I had to pick one over the other, I'd have to stick with Mon. (Fortunately, no one really has to make such a choice.)

My 2nd favorite has changed a bit over time. Inthe TMK era, it was definitely Tenzil. I appreciated the humor in what could often be a pretty grim book.
In the early stages of the preboot it was Cham. Now, I'm not really sure.

Wildfire. The first Legionaire to show that things weren't so perfect in the future. A tragic hero in the vein of the Thing, Cyclops, Etrigan, Ghost Rider, Man-Bat, etc. A hero trapped by his own powers.

I'm going with the current Invisable Kid. He is smart, sneaky, and skilled in many thing. If any ever character benifitted form the reboot it was Lyle.

As I said before, Ultra Boy is my current #2 -- Levitz days it was probably Timberwolf. -- During TMK it was Rokk

Lyle certainly improved in the reboot. Unfortunately, he hasn't been used much at all lately. The sub-plot space seems to be taken up with the Jo-Tinya thing, which is getting some tiresome.

Much agreed. He was one of the prime movers of the reboot Legion, and I wouldn't mind seeing him get another spotlight issue.

Ultra Boy has always held the number one spot...
With Wildfire and Timber Wolf switching as number 2 and 3.
